Not sure how long I can resist the temptation either I don't suppose you can get some sort of surgery that means you never need to sleep again... ever! That's the only way I can see that I'd be able to survive with both games. I know for certain that I don't play Gal Civ 2 as much as you because I've

Chipperoo: I remember you John/Nat! Welcome to GCII. You are welcome to join our empire, we emphasize enjoyment of the game (this will help prevent MV burnout). Stay active here regardless of the empire you join and...(better yet) join us at the Galactic Core! Hey man, I remember you

Hey guys, what's up? I got an invite from Fuels Chief to come on over here, so, I thought I'd check it out and say hi and stuff. Some of you may remember me from the old game/site, I used to have the name John Greenwood (my real name is Nathaniel Greenwood) and I was in the clan called "The Foundation". I know a lot of you guys (or, should I say, remember a lot of you), and I think it's great getting to see you all again. I haven't gotten the chance t

HeavenBlade: What resolution are you running the game at? I've found out that a lower (read: 1024 x 768) resolutions, the ships don't look nearly as good as some of those screenshots. More blocky, less lighting. However, ramp up the res and it's almost magical This is true, things do not a

I don't know about the rest of you folks, but I think I am through trying to help Citizen Heavensblade23. Or even pay attention to him or her any more. Like you said, Citizen Heavensblade23, I can feel free not to read any more of your bitter stubbornness. Cling to your unhappiness as you wish, but do not say I did not try to he

The ships are indeed, much better quality visually than the units in Civ 4. But, this game makes heavy use of 2D sprites in the background still (unless I'm mistaken), so, the star fields and things like that can't really be compared to the ground textures of Civ 4, at least in my opinion. I could be thinking of the first Gal Civ though, but I thought this game still used 2D sprites in certain areas. Just about everything else is very nicely detailed 3D though, which is a BIG improvement over

Geez, have you read my post? I explained exactly how the game works... Bonuses can be applied to 3 levels: Race-wide, Planet-wide or tile-based. If that 15% bonus you talk about comes from a building you build on a planet, then, logicaly, wouldn't you say it affects the planet it's built on? Yes, you would and yes, it

If you don't like the design ideas behind the game, why bother whining about it? They're not gonna change the game for you. Exactly. If you don't like them, then I'm sorry, that's too bad, they probably aren't going to be changed no matter how selfiish you are, and no matter how much you whine and com

Heavensblade23: Again, I shouldn't have to do that. It's unintuitive and it interupts the flow of the game to have to stop and post, and then wait for an answer, and then go back to the game. If all else fails it should be in the manual. I realize they can't correct the printed manual but there's no reason they can't fire up Acrobat and correct the PDF version.<

The problem I see with that is it takes a way a game play/strategy element in hunting/down blocking the other guys' Constructors. I like the present system. It is easy to direct Constructors with Rally Points. The movement of the Constuctors represents the flow of materials to the site. In a war zone, those materials m

I really like this idea. I also tire of moving contrstuctors around most of the game while building my fleet takes a backseat. Let me use constructors to place the bases and then they can upgrade themselves. That would free up your starports for making fleets. Also an option to install repair modules since they take forever to he

This is the typical gc2 fundamentalist thread which i really don't like to read (i don't call you fanboy because i'm also a fanboy but simply i don't think that worshipping the game and attacking every man which doesn't like some aspects of the game is right). As a fan of the game i can say you that i really like this game but gc2

Blueman: Ahm yes right galciv2 is something new and different. Tetris was something new and different. Since a long time we didn't see any really new games, it was only some kind of "take this game and make it a bit different" story. The problem you face today is that most games use a stupid plain simple code and put tons of sound and graphic around it. The main

Yes, truely, stop acting like this game should be a super-game with all of the best parts of MOO2/3, Empire At War, Civ 4, along with a little hint of Rome: Total War. It's not, it's Galactic Civilizations. They didn't want it to be just like all the games that are out or have been out for years. So stop complaining that it isn't. If you want a popular game that's fun and new, you need to do something DIFFERENT from what's been done before, not make

Darn it, no terror stars in this one? I usually just used them as super-influence bombs in the first game. Just build 'em up, and set them in your neighbor's star system and BAM! "I like your place more, I'm going to join up with you now". Oh well, I guess I can live without them.

Well, I'm guessing that this topic is pretty much dead now. Well, at least I got one person that said I was remembered, and that's better than none at all. Either everyone is playing the game (which is most probable), this topic sounds/looks boring (could be), or there aren't very many people from the first site here that check out the forums. But oh well, whatever. Thanks again to Fuels Chief for the post and invite, and to mavx21 for the w

Bumby bumb. Anyone else wanna post a comment? Anyone else remember me? Just curious to how many of you old Gal Civ players remember. I remembered a few other guys from the first game/site that I talked with a few times or was buddies with: Weyrleader Captian Jack Sparrow (Ahhh, my old captian) Kit Warrior Damoose Exalted Druid Hegetaga ( Me old ship mate, arrrgg)

Yeah man, I have downloaded 2 patches now, and I only had to put in my serial code once---that was during installation. And, I guess I did have to put it in once when it asked me to 'activate' my game (and that was when I got into it without using the CD), and I haven't had to since then. I use Stardock Central for all of my updates though, I don't know if that has any effect on it. But Fuels Chief is right--you shouldn't have to keep putting it in if
