I'd love to see more reasonable trade requests. In my latest video (Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tcF80wZOh8 ), the AI is making frequent, quite frankly, awful, trade requests. And the "strength" calculations seem a bit skewed, too. The Corporate Sector is scored twice as high as I am, despite being only really strong with their income and military. PS: Some really old accounts in

I love what this team is doing. GC4 is going to be your best-ever 4X, I can just tell. Keep up the great work! Beta generally means "feature complete". Does that mean we'll see the "vault" and the battle viewer this month?
These changes are all bloody fantastic. Not to take ANYTHING away from the normal GalCiv 4 team, but these changes will significantly improve the balance, and thus the enjoyment, of the game. I wish you were on the game more often lol Let's give you holiday breaks more often, okay?
Bad Frogboy, Significant reduction in the # of anomalies. This is getting you sent to bed without supper, otherwise you would have gotten triple or even quadruple desert. Anomalies are the only reason
This will be Stardock's best 4X game, I'm almost certain. Some niggling usability issues and some hopes that there will be an asymmetry pass to make the command ships and factions a bit more unique, but other than that? You're on to something here...
I really worry about micro in this game. I feel like the game design needs to lean into the macro-level stuff, but some of the recent changes regarding planet quality and the lack of UI elements in place to allow for a macro-level game are really concerning...
ALL of these additions sound great, but the nested tooltips are literally platinum additions. GalCiv 4 may just fulfill its promise of being the best space 4X in a long, long time. Derek, will we be seeing more races added to the roster? I saw some races that aren't in the game in the promotional material and was hoping we'd see them eventually.
Brad said in today's Q&A that he'd consider any good idea brought up by the community, so long as it wasn't humanoid. Here's your chance to pitch your race/faction!! I'm going to think on it and edit this post when I've come up with something good. Can't wait to see the community's ideas!
This is great news! What a wonderful team!
Citizens are probably the best added new feature to any 4X game in recent memory. Good luck topping that ;) That being said, hyperlanes and artifacts are two things I'm enormously excited for. The supply ships will also add a layer of strategy that I don't think any other 4X game has. These features are all just bloody fantastic. Well done, Brad and team!
Yup, I’m in! Can’t wait!!
This will be just a pre-order for release.
Honestly, what's the point? Will you run out of digital copies? If it gave me immediate beta access? Yeah, then I'd buy it.
Does preordering give you immediate access to it?
Omgggggggggggggg
HELL. YES.
When Stellaris drops, will GalCiv 3 still be relevant? I am only sort of kidding.
Meh. Okay, I'll come back in a year when the standalone is out.
I understand the point youre trying to make by saying it's "too risky", but there isn't a single 4X fan that I know of that would prefer this system over ANYTHING that you guys have or might come up with. It is rather sill that the existing system was scrapped in beta to begin with, but he fact that you're nearly a year out from release and there's still not an invasion system is extremely disappointing.
Done, I gave a thumbs up and a good review...
Of course you did ;)
I personally can't recommend it, Brad. I'm sorry. Still respect you and your company, but this just didn't do enough for me.
First, I deleted my post on the Steam forums as I realized that it wasn't appropriate to post about the beta in the Steam forums. Secondly, I thought this WAS in the Founder's forums. My apologies to Stardock for putting this in the general forums. Doh! However, if it bothered SD, they would have moved it. I appreciate how civil this conversation has been, despite my accidental forum placement. The blind white-knighting is expected,
I really like Stardock and its games. I've been playing them for years and despite the Elemental disaster, I consider them among my favorite developers of all time. Legendary Heroes is still among my most-played games on Steam and I sunk 500+ hours in to GalCiv 2, not to mention all the others that I've enjoyed. Mercenaries is a disappointment and an underwhelming "expansion" for Galactic Civilizations 3 and the only reason I'm writing this is because I f
Bravo! Well written and informative! I really appreciate your willingness to highlight some serious gameplay issues!
Feeling a bit underwhelmed right now... Let me play more, but this doesn't really feel all that great as it stands now. Played the last hour and really don't see much that mercs does to make the game better...just different.
Hi all - Apologies, we ran into some Steam config issues on the new expansion pack. I hope to have it worked out with Valve tomorrow. In the meantime, please enjoy the version 1.6 update.
First, what is in 1.6, exactly? Second, were you able to fix it yet? :-)
