[quote who="mrblondini" reply="123" id="3604792"] But, Ziddim, if you were living in Austin and didn't like doing tech (50%) and all the jobs in manufacturing and wealth (30% each), you could look on-line/off-line for a job doing what you wanted in, say, Phoenix and move there. In GalCiv games, there is no volontary emigration. It's controlled by the "government": A Hey, you! On to that thar Colony Ship and go colonize that new planet and probably end up doing

For me, this isn't about a wheel / no wheel. I've been playing this game awhile. I had to take a long study break for my CPA exam on the order of months. I come back after the hiatus and find out that the way I play the game has been totally altered. I spent a good amount of time learning how to play and optimize my play-style, and all I really wanted to do was fire up my game and play. Instead, I come back to all this talk about ad

My Surface Pro 1 handled a large galaxy just fine. I tried an insane sized galaxy the other day on my Surface Pro 3, and I had to dial it back to 'low' graphics settings, and it was still kinda laggy/jumpy. I expect that it should have enough meat before it's all said and done. The SP3 is an I5-8g Ram model. @Frogboy: Yes. And the situation is exacerbated by the fact that the surface pro 3 doesn't have a mouse

We tablet users often have no mouse, which means no third mouse button or mouse wheel. I've noticed some basic pinch-zoom functionality, but not being able to rotate the ships without hooking up a mouse is a super big pain.

I keep timing out when trying to upload my TOA game to the metaverse. Also, when I try and access the accounts from the metaverse page, I get... TA, of coarse :) I continued that game, and I had similiar problems with the Yor as well. Of coarse, with the Yor, it kinda makes since, given the super-isolationist slow-down. Anyway, what the AI would do is put all their research into firepower, and none into engines... They'd be flying around with black hole guns, and only have 2 movemements per ship, per round. To aggrivate the problem, the AI tended to launch the bad-boy ships and fleet them up, while leaving their planets prot

I'm currently playing a game as a custom race in an immense galaxy. The setting is painfull, 9 races... Let me preface this post with the disclaimer that I had Ctrl-N'd about a thousand times, and I don't know if the bug that makes the AI still gets set down to mind-boggliningly stupid is still present... Anyway, the Korath were on the same side of the map as me, and I make it my policy to kill those buggers off as soon as possible. I hate them, and t

I've found it difficult to play as a custom race against races whose tree I am using. They tend to buy the unique wonders before my first round even starts (losers), and sometimes, they'll build a wonder and it'll take mine away. It's definatly an issue that needs to be looked at.

In TA, most times you can't even use their structures anyway, so I always end their world with flood.

There should be the option for a good old-fashioned traditional invasion. The gas, information, orbiatl, and tidal attacks have been in since DA. Nothing *should* have changed except the screen art, etc. If your traditional warefare option doesn't come up, I'd report a bug.

Well, while it may be true they only have 2 buildings, when it comes time to upgrading them, it still takes me about 30 minutes to do it manually. That's actually a game killer for me. As far as the AI settings go: Cool... but it'd be alot handier to have that sort of information avaiable at a glance. I'm just guessing at this point, but it appears that the goal of the pre-game interface is to enable the user to play the kind of game they want, and a little tweak to display that i

The Beta is what it is, a beta. For the most part, I've found it to be really stable, but there's still things wrong with it, that change from release to release. I think it's possible for you to have an enjoyable time with the beta (I've been enjoying the hell out of it,) but you have to keep in mind that it lacks some of the 'polish' that you'd see in a retail game. If it crashes on you, just play DA ;) In a nutshell, what Loupdinour said.

Wow, glad to see this post finally got some attention :) Yea, I don't feel like I'm asking for a major change or anything in terms of espionage. I actually like the system alot, and I'm fairly good at using it. I guess if I could change one other thing about the system, it would be that the AI use it more effectively/aggressively.

First the Bug... In the Iconian tree, the economic buildings don't seem to be automatically upgrading. If this is by design, it's fustrating because I build *tons* of economic buildings, and upgrading them individually is harsh. Second is a play style suggestion... If this can be done currently, in the interest of user friendly-ness, it should be made easier to accomplish. It may well stem from my ignorance of the system, and if that is the case, it would

I know this has been suggested before, but not being able to use spies on Minor races puts the player at a huge tactical dis-advantage compared to being pitted against major races, espically when you have a mega-event such as the Jagged Knife. In a recent TA game, they took 30 of my planets. Not a big deal, but I use spys as scouts, to see which improvements and terrain types have been laid down. This is espically important when, out of hundreds of planet

Are they marked as cannot be traded as well? He's right, I'm playing a game with the thalan tech tree. My planets are toast if I get attacked at any point, and in order to keep a decent revenue going, I have to have *tons* of planets.

Hey guys. I have some unabashed pimping to do... I'm involved in this project with some other starving film-maker types, and it's just finished it's first episode. The concept is a Sci-Fi serial made specifically for you tube. Take a gander, and if you like it, please tell your friends! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F72rA7ggUyo </P

Yea. I figured it was something like that. This, however, took place before I even hit the OK of the "The puny humans have given us hyperdrive. We'll use it to abduct their sheep and probe their rednecks" line. I didn't get an opportunity to rush buy it. Somehow, being deprived of an *essential*, 'only one can be built' wonder before you even get to make a move strikes me as being... I dunno... somehow flawed?

Last night I created a custom race using the thalan tech tree. Then, I started a game on the immense map with 9 opponents, one of whom happened to be the Thalans... Then, at the first dialog screen, before I even click on OK a notice popped up saying that the Thalans had built the Hyperion Matrix, and that no other could be built. I immediatly cursed and made a new game without Thalans. I'm not at home, so I can't try to reproduce this, yet...
