Marc I usually hide behind several firewalls, use an antivirus( would use more than one at a time if it were possible), and several anti-spyware programs all at once. I also use non-standard things like Firefox to help decrease my risk. I'm considering getting surfside Xandros to further protect my windows machine. I'm quite paraniod about my secuity and I know even with all my precautions I'm still not safe. So I definately won't open myself up like that on purpose.

DeadDodo, you're right it is more like a chatroom than a forum but you're making friends with like minded people who all enjoy the same game. And I agree with Marc I love your Dodorian Federation stories. You're very imaginative and entertaining. I don't mind multiplayer if it's with the right people, but I don't like things that force me to be more exposed on the internet than I have to be.

You mean Massive Multiplayer Online? Not me if a game says I have to have an internet connection to play I won't buy it. I don't like the idea of having to drop my firewall or create a DMZ so I can let total strangers access my computer.

Good I didn't miss everyone again today. Also I'd like to congradulate everyone. We are currently the Second largest thread I've seen. This by itself is quite an accomplishment but if you consider we've already had another 10 page thread and a 4 page thread we are really overachieving.

My only issue is I think the Torians spread too quickly in the v1.1 betas. Before the Betas on Normal difficulty and below I had no problem dominating the AIs by mid game. In the Betas the Torians spread like a plague, none of the other races where colonizing near as fast. Normally I don't get aggressive with the AI's until late in the game because I like to get as close to completing the tech tree as possible first. But the last few games I've played I had to get aggressive with the Torians ear

The default directory for most of the XML files is C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Data\English Personally I use ConTEXT to edit all of my XML files. You can download it from this site http://www.context.cx/ Before you save any changes to an XML make sure you make a copy of the file and change the copy from .xml to .bak so you can always restore things if there are any problems. After you edit the XML you need to go to the following directory C:\Doc

Josh, I'm sure you'll always have a place here. Who knows maybe we will lure a few more to our little community too. If this keeps up we'll probably have the longest thread in the whole forum. Maybe I'll catch you guys in another 14 or so hours.
