Yup! In DA it has been changed. It was decided that immediately making all tiles available was to powerful.
Teancum
That is possible, but doubtful considering how deep in my territory they were. An upgrade where they were at would take an awful long time... Don't worry Drakon, they were "dealt with"
I believe there a bill that gets passed that will give freighters a basic armament. If I remember correctly.
Ok, there isnt anyone who knows the AI code better than you do... But could you explain what is going on then? This is an entire fleet. Upon closer inspection, I can see they aren't cargo hulls (I spend most of my time zoomed way out) But that still doesn't explain their hit points... <im
You mean I can get a diplomatic victory again? ~Gasp~ Glee!
Ok, this may be a question for Brad, but maybe someone else knows. How much do the AI's design their own ships and how much do they just copy from the player? I ask because the other night I was in a pinch militarily and started using cargo hulls loaded with a ton of guns. They were used as disposable ships and relied on superior numbers. Additionally, they were fast a cheap to build! Anyways, a while later I find the Terrans have done the same thing, using cargo hulls and loading them
Haha, yeah it looks like Stardock is putting a speed tax on us poor rocket jockeys! Yup check to make sure you're placing additional engines on the hull. Size isn't constrictive when it comes to the speed of a ship. Theres no reason massive hull can go as fast as a tiny in this game... Actually it should be faster considering the additional room the larger hulls have.
Agreed! Over population, high taxes, and foreign influence are all factors on if a colony will culture flip. Its much easier to keep a planet happy then it is to try and "re-convert" them. If its high population, try building some moral structures... Others have some more through break downs but a good rule of thumb is one moral building for every farm. High taxes? Thats easy... Lower taxes! Foreign troubles, usually moral star bases and a combination of the previous t
This was a topic debated and discussed rather hotly a while back... Let me see if I cant give you guys the quick and dirty conclusion we got from the Devs: The game has been specifically designed to do just that! When an AI is on the ropes, it is designed to surrender. This is actually a feature so that players don't get bored with the mop up phase during a war once an enemy is beaten and all that is left is to collect planets. When the AI surrenders it looks at a few different things:
Never give up! Never surrender! Honestly, the situation is grim. But if it were me I would let the galaxy forever remember the (insert your race name here) If its possible, scale back the amount of spending you are doing. Go for small interceptors to target their transports (suicide runs if needs be) if you can manage to retake a few of the dread lord captured worlds then you may be able to pick up some advanced tech. No guarantees my friend, but it ain't over till its over in my book!
Honestly, do I think you are representing some one else in these reviews... Maybe. With all that has gone on lately with companies getting involved in viral or guerrilla style advertising its hard not to think it. Now that being said, I don't see what your doing as a problem. As long as people are aware that you may be representing some one else then I think what you are doing is just fine. You write well, take a logical approach to your reviews, and can be entertaining. While I don't a
Congrats on pre-ordering a great game though!
Haha minor races are lacking? If you ever want to have some fun, give a minor race two or three worlds... They go nuts! It was explained a while back that a minor race wont really expand on its own. But something about them gaining additional worlds overrides something in the code and they start going for blood! If I ever want to mess with an AI I give the minor race closest to them some planets and cash and get them to declare war on the major... Entertainment at its best!
There have been many graphical mods, most with some sort of theme (star wars for example) for the most part not a lot of higher density graphical improvements. Most people haven't griped about interface... not enough to feel the need to go and mod it at least.
only one tile? wow what class is that? Not sure Ive ever seen one of those, Ive only had 2-3 tile planets.
Deth is correct. The amount a trade route is worth and the speed of the freighter moving along that route is fixed. When you increase the speed of a freighter all you are effecting is the speed at which it will go when setting the route up.
Not to mention that a non-similar type of defense still has an effect. Granted it is only the square root of its value. I agree with lucky, your ships were way underpowered in terms of weaponry.
Yeah its kind of pity, that huge list doesn't help me much... It would be nice to be able to see a condensed version of the tech tree. Usually I just look at what I have tech wise and they don't or vice versa. Its not really an absolute system more llike who's farther the who.
Not a bad little article, not much opinion, just facts... Let the good press begin!
Basically trading in this game is a device. Of course it doesn't work exactly like it does in the real world, but last time I checked, I didn't see many Drengin bagging my groceries either. Historically you are right that trade has been about raw materials, but remember that trade was only a portion of merchantilism. The entire purpose of trade was to increase strength of ones economy. In this game, trade serves the same function: strengthen economies. Since many people find the economy sliders
Congrats to all of you at Stardock! Everyone there has put in a lot of effort in every stage of this games life, you all deserve the high praise you have recieved. Keep up the great work!
Ouch, pwned by the kryo stick... Yeah I've heard rumors, but haven't actually seen any myself. Still, I highly doubt the PS3 will fade away, I doubt any of the big three will. Ofourse we all know that the Gizmondo will finally hit its stride and be the end all of gaming
Do I? No, not really. Sure both were TBS, but I see a lot more in common with the MOO series. SMAC was a great game, but to me at least it felt fairly different.
Predicting the future now Feud? I'm going to have to disagree with you. Its true that PS3s are overpriced and that they appear few and far between... But thats because people are buying them! Now I'm not going to be a fanboy to anyone but lets face a few facts: Sony is refusing to stop fighting console wars, they may not win but they aren't quiting either. The PS# has been a major investment to them and they will most likely keeping putting them out there. Next, does anyone tru
In addition, a world with the police center can not be culturally flipped... Kinda handy if you have a world deep in another's influence area.
