Has Mr. Wardell and Co. announced what type of plans they have for E3 anywhere? I would love to know what they are ready to show the ravenous gaming press. On a side note, 1.1 is lots of fun, but i'm rather anxious to see a single player version of this game. (hint hint)

I wish that some people would get together and begin work on an empire or something. I want to do that, but it may be way too premature for such talk. Until then, I just check these boards.
I find most of those games a little on the repetitive side. They are only fun if you are really good and you can only be really good if you live in your mom's basement and never stop playing...
I agree with the notion, but it would be safer if it was based around either a moral or idealogical system rather than religion.
I have noticed the same thing, particularly in smaller maps. My guess is that whatever algorithim is used to explore, it is unable to relate to other ships that a certain bit of exploration is already being done, so all the ships eventually hone in on the same piece of real estate.
Like you said though it took 4 iterations of civ before religion was brought in to the fold. I think it can add an additional dynamic to a game, but is definetly like playing with fire. There are many ways for something like that to go awry, but at least that brings with it a modicum of publicity.
Use ctrl-n to regenerate the map using the current settings. I may regenerate the map 15-20 times before I get one that has the right spacing and starting points.
The big problem there is the amount of micromanagement it entails. While some players enjoy manipulating every minute detail it does distract from the overall flow of the game as well as minimizes the big picture aspect of the game.
I got a server time out error every time that I started playing solitaire (yet other games worked fine). A restart of the computer cleared up whatever the problem was and I have all the files
optional tactical, maybe in an expansion pack
