It was always bugged in the original non-reboot game. Someone recently mentioned that you should be able to find 1 Galian transport in the named system. I've not tried it but sounds like you have with no success.
put the new .exe in the same folder you installed Reboot. Run the new .exe instead of the old .exe
probably the impulse download servers which also act as "activation servers" in the sense that they validate the product key when you type it in.

Sometimes when I am buying equipment for my ship, the cost numbers are red instead of white. I've yet to figure out what this means. Anyone know? It does *not* mean the item is too expensive for me to afford. I don't *think* it means the item is damaged because I've seen it on healthy items too. Does it mean the item is a sale price or something?
yeah the Russian release came with goodies like little Ranger pins and stuff.
I'd have to say somewhere in between. It has more new features than you typically see in a patch and has new content (new adventures etc) that you rarely see in a patch. But it has less new content than you typically see in a true expansion. But then I think the price is also less than your typical expansion so it is a good buy if you still like the original game.
yeah I started a game and thought it was broken b/c my gripper wasn't pulling stuff in unless I was basically on top of it. I finally realized that it *was* pulling stuff but it was very very slow--took several days to get a chunk of minerals and was quicker to just fly on top of it while pulling. But small items came at a reasonable speed. Made me immediately start looking for a more powerful gripper. I didn't realize gripper range was a new thing.
no cd key needed for reboot. But you need to have SR2 installed before installing reboot b/c reboot installs to the same folder. So if you can install SR2 you should be ok.
i think the most important improvement is the new Search feature. Now you can put filters into your search request for things like hulls that have so many slots or made by a particular race or less than a certain cost. You can search for specific trade goods etc. Makes it much easier to find what you are looking for instead of the old search (which is still there in case you want it). Also, I don't think this was in the original, but now you can have 3 different configs for your ship. So yo

they must have changed Impulse. When I bought the expansion about a week ago it did not check to see if SR2 was installed and happily installed the xpansion into its own folder and I could copy it on top of my CD install and things are working. I suppose if they have tried to make it find the SR2 installation and that is not working you might just be screwed until they fix it which will hopefully be real soon according to Yarlen.
you'll know if it is the "full version" when you run the game and get to the main menu, you should have some options to play the text adventures or planetary mech battles and be able to pick them from a list.

I had it working in the Geoscape but have been side-tracked before I could finish fixing it in the tactical portion. It is a pretty nice tool.
haven't tried it yet, but at a minimum it might make the station sturdier and thus survive longer if dominators come, which might be important to you if it is in a convenient location.

Unless you bought the "complete" then yes you need to have the original installed and then either install the expansion to the same folder as the original, or install it to a fresh folder, then manually copy everything into the original folder. And yes the original contains Starforce. So yes you will end up with a starforce infected machine. But once you get the expansion installed and working, you can run the star force cleaner tool (google for it) to get starforce off of your machin
I'd also like to add that during installation, Impulse asked if I wanted a shortcut put on my desktop. I said yes. It never put a shortcut on the desktop. I had to manually do it.
Just an FYI. I just bought the expansion. Before installing, I set the preferences so it would prompt me for install folder. When it prompted me, I told it to install to y:\space rangers 2\ which is where I have the CD version installed. After installation I check and find out that Impulse just completely ignored me and installed it to C:\program files\cinemaware\space rangers 2! I had to copy the stuff to my CD installation manually. X-(

I did some test uploads for Andrew last week and from his last post here it sounded like he knew conceptually what was going on, but not necessarily why it was happening. Weird. I remember when it did show the progress bar that it looked as you described. Everything else was dimmed. I'm not sure what might have changed on my system to make this not work anymore. Can you tell me if my upload worked? Like I said, when it was done, I was back on the upload form with no indication whether or not it worked. Arrgh! Okay I waited about 20 minutes on that black page. During that time something was going on b/c that progress bar at the bottom of ie was acting like it was loading something and my upload bandwidth was saturated. I could tell by the slow responsiveness of a terminal session I had open. After about 20 minutes I noticed my bandwidth was normal again so I check and now I am back at the upload2 form. I just tried again and got the exact same black screen I sent you earlier today. But there is a green progress bar in the status bar at the bottom of IE that acts like it is doing *something* even though ie tells me the page is done. I'll let it be and see if it is magically loading the file in the background or something.
