I haven't played the beta, but I've seen where ship classes can be named. Can individual ships be named? Do they gain any kind of prestige/expertise with battle victories or experience? I look forward to having my version of the Bismarck being sought after by the enemy for its notoriety in tonnage destroyed. I have a whole list of wonderful names from the British Navy (the have the best ship names ever, like Indefatigable, Exeter, Exelcior, etc) .

I believe there will be a number of folks that will purchase both SE V and GalCiv2. What we need to do is get those folks hooked on the ridiculous "real time strategy" games back over to REAL strategy games, ie, turn-based strategy. I just played the demo of Star Wars--Empire at War, and although it was cinematic and gorgeous, it felt empty as far as strategy goes. No matter what game it is, real time strategy just seems like you build as many forces as you can, and point them toward a battle

Claiming one of these games is "better" than the other is about as useful as claiming to know how many angels can stand on the head of a pin. Just buy BOTH games. You guys aren't 12 years old. You can afford it. Pony up the cash and support the precious few developers who actually cater to us turn based space strategy fans.

I will buy both GalCiv 2 and SE V. They will scratch different itches, all within the 4x turn based space strategy genre. Loved MOO 2; too bad MOO3 turned out sooo bad. I've played and loved SE IV. I bought X3 and Nexus, and although their three-dimensional modeling is absolutely beautiful to behold, they aren't really what I wanted. I stopped playing each of those early on.
