Thanks Kenray, but I think some of you are misreading my post. I don't want to make the icon background transparent, (I can do that) I want to get rid of the text altogether! If you right click on any icon, there is an option to Rename, but if you don't type anything it says "You must type a filename". I really don't want text beneath my icons, so if anyone can tell me how to do it, that would be great. Thanks.
Hmmm... Migellito, I hate to say this, but, /me whispers.."I don't like desktop X" I love window blinds and iconpackager but I find DX a pain. (sorry Brad!) Come on you 'puter heads, someone must know how to do it.

O.K., It may be a stupid newbie question, but, is it possible when using Windows, to have desktop icons without ANY text underneath them? I usually use Litestep, but due to problems I am having to use the explorer shell, and I'm trying to make the desktop look pretty but that damn icon text is driving me nuts!! Am I unusual in not wanting text beneath my icons?, surely the icon represents the program, making the text surplus to requirements (and it's ugly!). I'm using Windows ME. Thanks

As this is a "portal" site to other skin sites, I think you should all pay a visit to Skinbase.org. It's a great site and just needs more visitors. You may want to upload some of your wonderful skins there too, to fill out the gaps. With many of the skin sites going down, we should be supporting the ones that are left.

I assume you are talking about a laptop computer? If you are, then as long as it has a version of windows on it, you should be able to change the wallpaper by using the method you described. Just remember that the picture of your daughter should be a .bmp, and should be placed in C:\windows I hope this helps.

Well, I have been using the Skinz skin since it was released, I just need the daily fix of brown and tan. I guess I spent so much time at "Skinz" when it was open that this eases the withdrawal symptoms somewhat. By the way Brad, where is Shoggot these days?

I have no problems with speed either here or at Devart, and I only have a 56k modem, and it isn't even a V90 standard, just a k56 flex. Strange isn't it? Could it be something to do with individual ISP's? Eat my dust suckers, heh!.
