Hi Pauline, After you have downloaded a wallpaper, check inside the zip file to see if it's a .bmp or .jpg file. If it's a .bmp, you can unzip it straight to C:\Windows , after that, you just right click on your desktop, choose properties, wallpaper, and then just find the new wallpaper in the list. If the wallpaper is in .jpg format, then you need to convert it to .bmp to use it. You can use any image editor to do this. If you are unsure about doing this, just e-mail me with the names of the wa

This may surprise a few of you, but, I didn't get my first computer until I was 42. That was about 2 years ago, and believe me, it's tough being a newbie when you're my age! I had never LOOKED at a 'puter until the delivery guy dumped it on my doorstep and I had to put it together and get it working. Initially, it was for the kids, but I use it more than anyone. I guess I've learned quite quickly, as I had Litestep running only 2 months after I got the computer. Then I got Photoshop, and I've be

This is supposed to be a really bad one! It was on all the news programs here in the U.K. Apparently you don't even have to download anything to get it, it just sits there scanning for susceptible systems, and jumps right in. That's all I know about it. Be VERY careful.

Thanks Paul, but it MUST be a system problem, because when I uploaded my themes to the various sites, they were working perfectly, but now if I download the same themes they don't work! Also Litespawn will NOT work on my system, it just says "litespawn has detected another shell, do you want to continue?" If I say yes, it restarts the 'puter and does it all again, and if I say no, it doesn't load anything and I have to reboot! So, I dumped that too and went to "ShellSwitch" which works fine.

No Paul, it's still screwed! But, I downloaded one of alexandrie's themes, and it behaved perfectly,(except when I tried to introduce a taskbar) so, I have slowly been converting that theme to one of my own without changing the directory structure or any paths. So far its o.k., except for those damn error messages when I open a folder. Did you see that I converted "BoXXiStep" to Desktopx?, it's in the screenshot section if you want to look. I quite like DX, and if Litestep continues to misbehave

I think we should have the Hippy's view of this. Being one of dubious mental stability, he is well qualified to speak in this arena. /me goes off to find hippy and drag him in here...

I am still learning about DX, so I may be wrong, but when you have everything in position, have you tried using "save theme" in the DX settings, which are in the box that comes up when you right click on the desktop? I'm not sure if this is the answer, but it's worth a try. And I'm sure an expert will be along shortly to help you out if I am wrong.
