You reply to me as though I said anything negative about X-COM. I just spent all morning playing it. I'm one of the old guys who played the original and like the new one better. I'm saying that there are a lot of complaints on the website about the camera issue and how much of a pain it is to play with. There are all of these unnecessary cut scenes, etc... which they spent alot of time coding, but they couldn't get the camera controls
I just bought the new x-com game and the camera problems with moving between levels is so annoying to make the game near unplayable. Firaxis is getting alot of heat for this and I don't want the same to happen to stardock. While FE doesn't have anything like this, I just don't want it to look half-assed when released as It's going to be judged against WOM and so will be scrutinized more harshly.
This the same XCOM that just
Well as is with latest update I would not score it as high as CIV V. The game is better than it every was but still has some issue (weak AI, no sea units, primitive TC) I'm not currently noting bugs at this point. so I'll give it a 70 at this point. With current bugs I'd give a a 68. Now this is just the Vanilla game. I'm afraid that it aint going to get much better than this before launch. However with

It looks like Fallen Enchantress is ready for release. I don't know what differences there are between 0.99 and 1.0 yet but it's probably safe to pass judgment. So..... What do you think the Metacritic average of Fallen Enchantress will be by December 1, 2012? Put in your guesses. Here are some recent game releases to compare to..... Dishonored 91 XCOM 89 Borderlands 2 89 Torchlight II 89 Transformers: Fall of Cyberton 79

I wonder if the forum software supports tables. If it does I can't tell. Since we are talking about eras I'm gonna define my eras like this --> Era 1: Golden Age of PC games + Wing Commander + Master of Orion + Civilization + Star Control 2 + Master of Magic + DOOM + Ultima VI vs. Fallen Enchantress. It's a great game but it doesn't measure up to those classics. </
Holy overhyped. It is a much better game than War of Magic and a good game in general but will not set the world alight in my opinion.
Compared to...what? If I'm a PC gamer looking to play a good 4X game. What should I buy? Endless Space is a good game. I think I agree with XAN that I think its sequel might push it into FE's league. Warlock? It's just a bi

I see the AI casting spells all the time on the strategic map. Unit buffs, city buffs, summoning. But you say best 4X fantasy strategy game, I am curious as to what is the best 4X fantasy strategy game you would recommend to someone to play if not Fallen Enchantress?

I can beat Civilization IV at pretty high levels but I get smoked on FE at anything above challenging and I've been playing every beta. I'm not doubting someone found a way to do it. Yea, I think Fallen Enchantress demonstrates the beauty of digital distribution. My son's Windows XP machine had some problems with Beta 5 but the latest build fixed that. It's been solid as a rock on Windows 7 since, I don't know when. I think the things the community worries about will still be debated a year from now. Should the monsters attack more? Should they attack less? Should champions be nerfed more? Should they get buffed. I'm just glad

I'm playing 983
Lack of information about bonuses/traits of factions and races when creating custom sovereign's and factions. Auto-resolve of combat ignores magical abilities making it easy for the AI (or a knowledgeable player) to defeat any and all magic heavy challenges Auto placement of units in combat is poor, often meaning fragile units in the front line and strong units behind and leading to fragile units dying immediately</li

That's a great list. I agree with most of it. But calling them "serious" is, seriously, not credible. I think at this stage we need to make sure we use "serious" for things that need to be fixed before the game gets released. As a serial Ctrl-N'r, the game is very solid and ready I think.

You can control how many players you're up against. I find on a large map, 5 players feels pretty good to have a large empire. If you are looking for magic Civilization, I'm not sure the Elemental games are quite that. They do blend role playing and strategy nicely. But the city management is somewhat simpler which seems to be the intent since unlike Civilization, so much of the player's attention is spent on their characters out in the field. You do have a l
Poor, the AI is so bad at the moment its hard to tell if the game will be any good. I am still seeing crazy tower building, AI that just stalls out, only gets like 2-3 cities while others get 8-10 from auto-turn games, plus it still doesn't seem to cast a wide array of spells. Since this is a single player only game the ai is crucial and right now its essentially broken. How the tower problem hasn't been fixed yet is just strange. This

My 2 cents... I wouldn't say that the game is ready for release right now. But I think anyone suggesting that it's months away is being hyperbolic. You could spend 10 years on something and there will still be people who will say it's not ready. Just a casual look through the beta reports makes it patently obvious that the game is just about ready for release. It's no longer about crashes or game stopping bugs. It's UI nitpicks or balance nitpicks.
