I hate it when support ships decide "You go fight the good fight, I'll just chill out here with my pals" and just go away.. Plus, I noticed that for some reason, after entering a system, fleets tend to go to one corner of the planet circle and just... park themselves there, as far away from anything as possible... WTF is with that?

MrFujiKicker and me brainstormed a whole lot of bunch of ideas today over the sins IRC about this. Capships, superweapons, new mechanics, ship abilities and all that, and so far, even in the theorycraft gameverse we have, it's balanced... I'd very much like to be a part of any Freespace mod team that may form, I can contribute with ideas, balancing, codemonkeying, maybe some modeling too(still have to learn to use anything other than Solidworks effectively) etc.

What I recently got annoyed by are the Advent, their "marble" and the impossibility to effectively direct your fleet when you can't see what ship is where... Meanwhile, he's popping your support cruisers like they glow in the dark.

TEC kings of: defense, economy, steamrolling, huge unstoppable waves of massive fleets Advent kings of: being damn annoying, murderizing obscene numbers of weak ships en masse

Vasari Colony ship is better than the other colony ships because the Vasari scout has the asteroid inhabitating ability. With the Cap and the scout, you don't ever have to build a Col frig. Oh, and the Vasari Egg is awesome :) My usual start is 3-4x scouts(depending on start), and then a egg, followed by a trickle of combat frigs which bolster the cap's fleet as they are available. I go for 2x Imperial lab for the colony techs, and don't get advanced military labs until I have 3 planets, at

This looks like a good place to ask... I was wondering about this background with the red planet and the artworks like the TEC commander and stuff like that, wanted to use them in my sins review. Where can I get those?

I'm writing a sins review for a magazine, and I could really really use the fansite kit with the artwork and this beautiful background with the stars and the planet and stuff like thet. I've looked around, but I can't seem to find it anywhere...

Currently, we can make the universe map as a single system, have pirates, and have the six X races be represented by the three Sins races, but it could be so much more!

Anyone as anxious as I am for the arrival of all the tools so we can finally make the universe from X3 - Reunion? If the tools would allow you to designate new races and distribute techs around, it could turn ou awesomely in the phaselane map form. And yeah, Freelancer could also work. But I'm more interested in the X3 universe :D

Final showdown with the Immortal fleet vs the Advent at their capital. Three Radiances, two Raptures, two Halcyons, 80ish Disciples, a few dozen Aerias and Destras. Not a scratch on me, only a Kodiak managed to get below 50% hull strength. It was an awesome sight when the two gargantic fleets were just about to clash and out of nowhere, a giant effing blue-green ball of plasma flew exactly between the fleets, hit the planet and made it burn like the brightest star. It was quite cinematic :D

I tried this concept last night with Vasari, game looked like this: I built 5 scouts, sent them on their merry way Waited for the mines to give me enough resources Built a Capship Forge, popped out a Jarrasul Evacuator Taken the asteroid system below my home Two scouts found an asteroid belt each, capped them for 4 metal and 3 crystal Built two war labs Waited Built three more Researched Enforcer Prototype. Yes, the very first research Proceeded to build f

That was "a" fleet. I had four fleets consisting of 4 caps each, this one just proved to be the meanest combination. Pop caps were fully researched and filled up, don't worry :) My friend had five fleets of 3 caps each, he played Advent but with the style of a Vasari(ie small fast fleets). For some reason he loves the 3x Halcyon + 15 Aeria + 5 Iconus + 5 Domina fleet :P He calls them the Untouchables, but they're not as untouchable as my own :P

Just ended a 2v2 compstomp with my friend who got the game yesterday. He was Advent, I was TEC vs Vasari and Advent. In the end, the most powerful, useful and intimidating fleet in the game was my battlefleet consisting of a Kol(level 7, Gauss 3, Flak 3, Finest 1), Marza(level 9, Nuke 3, Incendiary 3, Raze 2, Barrage 1), Akkan(flagship, level 9, Colonize 3, Ion 3, Uplink 3), Dunov(level 6, Shield 3, EMP 3), 20 Kodiaks, 20 Repair Cruisers(forgot the name), 5 Cielos and 10 Gardas. Now that may loo

Good, you know your place. Now, bow and grovel! What I meant to say is that Advent are just more dependant on the combined arms game, and if played smart, they can achieve the same results the other races can with less resources invested. The abilities of their ships complement each other more than the combinations of other races that I've foind so far.
