Hi Guys - I'm in. Would've responded sooner but I've been in Toronto for a week. I'm in the N. Dallas suburbs near that F-105 I mentioned. The only if for me is whether I am in state or not for the date. There is this damn job thing...

What Jafo would probably really enjoy is a trip to the museum (Air Force) at Wright-Patterson. Makes the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum look small. I remember driving by as a kid (Dark ages) and there was a burned out B-52 sitting at the end of a runway you could see from the road. Also they have a B-36 (talk about big) in all its glory amongst just about every other aircraft you can think of.

Jafo, There's a small air museum at the business airport in Addison, Tx. (Dallas suburb). The owners acquired a 105 about 4 yrs ago and restored (sans engine). That is one big airplane yet ver sleek and beautiful. Way ahead of its time.

This is probably redundant but for those on a dialup connection, have you checked with your ISP and modem vendor for the best control strings to optimize the connection (compression, etc.). When I do have to revert to my dialup (rarely) I always get at least a 40K connection. If you can actually get the compression to synch you'd be amazed at what even dialup can do.

Brad, Its your call on that but I can tell you that the site being a little slow is okay if its enough people shopping and buying after the show the other night. In the long run more business helps all of us.

Tarkus, I never use one and I open mine up and do things to it all the time. Just touch something metal (not you computer stuff) like a lamp if you feel there's a danger. But if your not shocking yourself around the house now you're not going to generate a static charge just because of new computer parts lying around.

For a start I believe there is Desktopx Documentation on the Stardock website. From there I would load a zoomer object in DX and see how it works - properties, settings, etc. Might get you started.

They don't have to be gold but they will come with one or both. The idea is that they/you ground the MB or else fried board. But don't worry its perfectly logical once you get all the bits together.

I thought Brad was great. Loved the Star Trek demo but what he showed with the customization for his kids demonstrates that the OD tools go beyond eye candy, convenience and productivity for folks like us. They can also have a valuable use on any family computer. Did I hear marketing talking?

Corrie, You will also find theme managers/browsers in the programs that will unpack, catalog and load your themes for you. (e.g., control panel -> display -> skins -> windowblinds -> skins -> install skins from...

Tark, Here's the link to Tom's Hardware guide since you've got time for research. There a European outfit(German I think) and don't sell anything except news and research so very unbiased and they cover it all. http://www.tomshardware.com/

One last thing I forgot, around the first of September Intel is going to announce new chips and price cuts. This is going to drive down AMD's prices as well. If you can wait that long it may be worth it.

Tarkus, I am late to the party but this is one of my favorite subjects. First, don't skimp on the case and powersupply. Recommend any of the Antec Performance series especially the 840 if you can find one. For MB's Asus and Gigabyte seem to consistently get high ratings from the Tomshardware site. I use Gigabyte and love it. Processor- I'm an Intel guy and would go for the P4 with 512 cache and 533 FSD like the 2.26 MHZ especially for audio/video. Again Tomshardware benchma

I tend to download my icons, skins and wallpapers from what I consider are reputable sites (like the ones listed in the community here). However, I am not that familar with Mac visuals so I am not sure whether I've got a rip or not. The sites have got to take some responsibilty for this or a methodology developed for tagging the proprietary art. I also appreciate the policing and broadcasting of the names of ripped items so that I can avoid them. Perhaps if we had a thread here like the 'Maratho
