No shadow effects? When I try the drop down only gives me the option to not apply shadows to my windows???

When i install a new dsektop x theme I keep getting the message "this doesn't appear to be a valid zip code. Please try again." But whatever zip code I enter I just keep getting the same message. Any ideas????
