I suggest an Acer. Any model. Though, do keep in mind what she plans on using it for. If she wants it just for notes, homework, etc... then go for one of the earlier models. I've had mine a little over two months. (If memory serves me right) It has been fine. Got it for around 900$ at a staples. Hope this helps... ~L
