Tried playing on a large screen with all other races enabled at brilliant level. Let me tell ya, spending money was at a premium and diplomatic skills a must, so economy must be maintained. Also figured out that starting with a nice square of manufacturing (like 300% to 700%) is not all its cracked up to be. You make ships faster than you economy can keep up with, colony wise especially. W/R Suralle PS: Has anyone else noticed that high taxes create a really weird e

Did you u/g to another hull type? The core vessels for me do not alloy upgrades. Would be nice to add some defenses and arms to what looks to be an excellent ship class. W/R Suralle
Agreed, I have the screen set to 1280 and have been using GC2 config in 1024 mode. There was a log (and alot) more data in the debug file that I mailed in. I will say this, my desktop hasn't had a problem all weekend. The above system though is what I travel with and trust me I travel alot so I am hoping for some more suggestions. Thanks though Lucky Jack. Trust me I will keep plugging. W/R Suralle
Here are the system specs: (I can not get a smart exception report as I have to power down the laptop to be able to do anything.) Can happen pretty much at any time. I have reloaded and deleted everything numerous times. I have, I believe, the most up ot date drivers available for this system. Anybody with any recommendations as to what maybe causing it? I can not get to the task manager to see if memory is maxed. I will email the debug.err report in. System Info<br/
I see this more when I update my drivers, plus some other weird stuff like Earth becoming Sol (1) or (2) etc... etc... the only way I have seen to correct it is to d/l and reinstall the beta after I have the changed the data the game is relating to. Some other things I have noted is during invasions of other systems some of the planets will have duplicate space docks (don't delete either) as this will cause you not to be able to build a ship there for the rest of the current game.<b
Mines are actually quite mobile these days, as they could be in space. The sensors and onboard nav computer could easily have a map of the sectors and just be out there rolling around like a small asteroid, waiting for a change in the magnetic signature of the sectors is has sensor range on. If a dense enough change happens (such as a large fleet or even a large heat source, what ever triggers the startup sequence) the mine kicks in its drive and become more of a skipper missle using active a
Where do I respectfully request a block of logistics for the custom races? Course, do not worry about this request if all the races are going to be set to 0 in the final countdown. With Respect, Meow!
So much for finally getting ahead on normal mode. I am going to have to debug my AI-whacking program. The space battles are kickin, pretty much like my dads hot sauce.
Besides the not recognizable certificate which I blew past the load works fine now... Superb job... > Letters of Appreciation all around.
Ditto, tried the following also to fix it. 1) Loaded new video drivers 2) cleared all saved games, saved ships, saved races etc. 3) uninstalled, re-installed, re-started system... no luck game still fails at opening. 4) applied a bood to the head... still no joy.
Has anybody used the extra funds area in the planet detailed screen yet to see if this helps... personally I have had my tax rate down to as low as 25% and was barely in thegreen with morale.
You may make it to the battle scenes if you find the minor races as they seem to trade techs and are very giving at least it seems to me.
Stopped doing it myself too. Additionally I can not upgrade the base designs at all.. ie colony ship, survey ship etc... button is not authorized. I realize that this could be to folks not wanting us to change the core designs but I would still like the option of using the hulls and changing the name to something else... like Colonial Colonizer... or Colonial Transport...
Would like to start my own race, however the lack of a logistics ability usually means I end up getting waxed by fleets that much sooner.
Bah, avoid them and jack up the research monies as well as your research to about 80% spending and 50% research with 25% social and military. "Size does matter!"
And Jupiter is just a failed star with it's own solar system
Got home from work, followed advice from Ms. Elf, deleted saved ship files and re-attempted to load the game, worked like a dream. However, be advised that you may need to remove saved game files also. Recommend doing one at a time and sending in error reports to her, she is the brain of the machine (B.O.M.) With Respect, Suralle
Smartexception came up for me last night so I emailed the report to Ms. Elf. per request. Same message on desktop, laptop seems to be working fine, I just had to reboot due to a bad mouse input though. W/R Suralle
Interestingly enough and just because I am a glutton for punishment, (Really I am going back on the road for work next week) I upgraded the beta to .31[b] and d/l the multimedia files to my laptop this morning and viola. Loads up with no problems. Could it be the Nvidia card (desktop) vs Radeon 9000 (laptop) or the Windows Media Edition (Desktop) vs MS Windows XP Pro. (Laptop). Just some thoughts to look at for the runtime error. (Both have DirextX9.0c)<BR
Same here, Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Program:...ogram files\stardock\totalgaming.net\galciv2\galciv2.exe This Application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact "you all" (support staff) for more info.
Okay this is going to sound dumb, but hey, I work for a living so things happen. I did the preorder for the CD and the Beta back in July while I was doing a job in Atascadero California, staying at the Best Western Colony Inn out there. (TMI I am sure.) To make a long story short, the house keeping staff decided to toss the numbers I wanted to keep as well as some receipts that I had to wait a month to re-coup from my work. Will I need this data to d/l the beta la
