Actually I see the bug at work with the .9 vs .81. Did the same thing, went back and got the .81 as I did not remember seeing anything actually update with .9. At home, I watched most carefully, nothing did update with .9 so I kept going and got a full update that looks like it changed the dates on folders but I seen nothing else oddly enough. Of note though it appears that the nvidia problem maybe back. The only way I could get the home computer with the nvidia gforce 5200 to work

Had some problems with beta today, nvidia card was acting up. applied the patch from 17 or 18DEC05 forum. Not saying it will help. Good luck. W/R Suralle
Question is, do the patches work for this latest update on 01/09. Here goes! W/R Suralle
You can actually take it back to the start of Homo Sapiens. They met other species of human during expansion... other species disappeared... bet they didn't go away without a fight though. W/R Suralle
Wooo Hooo! No idea what is going on but there is nothing like adding confusion to a whole heap of fire. Suralle
mutter mutter mutter http://www.janes.com/defence/naval_forces/news/juws/juws010202_01_n.shtml Try that or just got to janes.com and type in Mk 48 in the search window. w/r Suralle
BTW: To see what a modern (by that I mean a weapons system first designed in the 80's) can do to a battleship from a small submarine in a diesel electric navy (please remember that many, many, many countries possess these small submarines with similar torpedos) please check out the link below. W/R Suralle PS: The ship in question although DIW would still be a new reef if under power. DIW is actually safer in some regards as torpedos are passive / aggressiv
Only takes one little torpedo now a days to take out a battle ship. Look at the overall picture. Altarians build a nice pocket battleship names CruiseM1K1 or something of the sort, they are continuously at war with the Yor who specialize in missle technology and subsequent arming. Along comes the Arcaen who working with the Hoomans have developed guns and lasers. Primary armament on them little fighters are guns which the Altarians don't have battle armor to really stop. Now you h
Other than the fact that it seems like the minor races have an unlimited range the trade routes seem identical in planning and administrative concern for instance. 1) Where is it safe to trade? (are two races at war where I want to trade and whom do I pick to trade with) 2) Maximum range that I can protect with my current speed and armaments. 3) Beneficial to me in that I can make a stronger more militaristic race like me better or even a race that is technologically better
Not sure if I am missing it, but I have been playing other than human, quite a bit and I believe I can safely vouch that the AI has a better chance of finding suitable planets for colonies, although I can not see how they would know which planet is golden just that this star has this amount of planets. Which if far better than the hoomans who only have the phrase "A star to guide by". W/R Suralle
Kats use about 75 different types of meows to indicate just as many different things, even if we only hear a few. The mrew that my littlest one means please pick me up and pet me as I need you to stand near me while I eat so that I can flick my tail on your face. Imagine if I didn't know that... I may just pick her up and give her some snuggles and she would claw the crap outta me. hummm On to the topic. Instantaneous understandment of other races with the
Religously, Ethnicity, Culturally, Emotionally... All play a factor in the fight to the death scenerio. If the last planet before yours and the ones before that were brutally enslaved and slaughtered, with every male child being extinguished (or so everyone in the Underverse thought) wouldn't you fight unconditionally to the bitter sweet end? If not, don't come a crawling into my foxhole, don't bother with requesting to come aboard. You can stay here and keep cranking out grief and
I use the circular add-ons for engine shrouds, when I u/g ships to warp drives. Pretty neat I feel. Disruptors... hehe cool.
Not to mention that even though nature has sterilized earth a few times, life still came back when conditions were acceptable for it. Has anyone ever figured out what "dextribopping" (-2 spelling) is? Mr. Smith wrote about it in the Lensman series. W/R Suralle
I dunno... even on a small level starvation takes a very long time to work. Look at seige information from history. On a galactic scale seems like any planet that has a real serious food shortage would just (depending on alignment) follow the most expeditious way below to fix the problem. 1) Soylent Green - Best damn cracker I have ever ate. Hey buddy, seen my grandpa? 2) Todays lottery winners are Alice, Amber, Ashley.... (all females with names starting with A). The g
Nice thing about GC2 is that you do not have to invade to take over. Instead of hostile, try to buy them out with cash/goods or just with your influence and prowess. Or... Nuke em and let their own gods sort them out. W/R Suralle
They have to me, unfortunately I was technologically ahead of the race that was about to lay the smack down on them and yes at war with that race also... free tech for the invading race I would imagine as they invaded that turn anyways . W/R Suralle
Line up the item on the little red hard points and left click. It can be a bit of a pain sometimes as the item can cover and blind you to the exact point but making your ships look like combined atmospheric / space attack craft is pretty neat imho. W/R Suralle
Or like the new NASA designs for the next rocket to the moon.... electronically they look the same as the old ones... the internals are smaller (chip vs tube). the LEDs different, (although the same size??) the cost.... hahahah "astronomically" higher. Newer does not mean cheaper and as far as getting rid of techs once you have researched advances... no way. I love the Altarians... and I may help them out in a jam... with an older tech not my new one... being a greedy bastard I charge them too
USS Cincinnati, USS Key West, USS Philadelphia, USS Corpus Christi (City Of), USS HG Rickover. All that in 22 years. And my current job still has me as a baby sitter . W/R Suralle I was wondering if GC3 was going to delve into fleet formations... I know I know... let's get GC2 on the streets first. But hey, I am still a huge fan of E.E. Doc Smith's.
Sometimes the thoughts that come out when your eatting left overs. Espionage... planetary invasions.... electronic surveillance... some cool (or more graphic) shots. As more money is spent there could be some "keywords" and "tricky phrases" that could be added to the game as well as some Mata Hari cinematics. Space battles cinematics rock! Already have footage of the aliens according to what I was listening to. W/R Suralle <img src="smiles
heheh, I was thinking more on the lines of the Maginot Wall (which translates to mean "Marginally Useful" in Kat language" after the French never extended it to the channel. Although I concede that if I was the invading force I would want to try and save them areas myself. Much like if I was to invade Norfolk, Virginia. I would defintely want to try and leave the ships and associated shipyards intact for my own use. W/R Suralle the Kat
More on this topic. The Planetary Defense Tiles - Should be whacked (deleted), if active on a planet and an invasion has success, for that matter orbital defenses also. Free space can than be utilized for whatever the invader wants. Yes, I know that you can just whack them yerself, however, they shouldn't be there to give you or them a hand, after the invasion is over until rebuilt. Frequently I build up a planet, its invaded and I arrive a turn later with troopers and still have
Are initial logistics based on a formula of what each specific races bureaucracy (management) is capable of pulling off combined with their industrial and communications combined with energy capabilites? Will the custom races be able to have initial logistics capability and will there be a way of upgrading even the standard races logistics by abilties in the beginning of the game? w/r Suralle
Although I agree on the principle of not having to slaughter everyone, in the back of my mind I have to wonder if it wouldn't be for the better if you did, I mean if you leave enough folks around of a different morality and mindset from an invasion, your only asking for alot of stabs in the backside while your attention is being diverted by an old friend with a new problem later. w/r Suralle (An A - student of World History about 25 years ago)
