I can confirm that WB5 per-pixel skins cause problems with the clipboard. I've reported this to Stardock some time ago. I use "ClipCache Pro 3.1" to capture "copy" items and then quick paste them in other applications. The "Quick Paste" feature does not work with a "per-pixel" skin but it will work with non per-pixel skins. I mention this only that it may be related to the problem you are having with the "PrtScn" key since it involves a copy/paste function. So, try an older WB4 type ski

The "translucent aero effect" isn't something you "turn on". It works inherently, IF your video card is capable of per pixel rendering. If you open the WB configuration window and click on "View my system information", it will indicate if your system's video has that feature or not. Secondly, some skins have different substyles. You really have little to worry about re: Beta versions of WindowBlinds. Rarely are there any problems with them. One of the great features of using Stardock Central is that it will automatically "Archive" (aka: backup) your currently installed version before downloading and installing any updates. IF the new updated version is problematic, you can easily revert to an earlier version that was working for you.

I went through that hassle too a year or more ago and found it very frustrating. The easiest solution I found is to right-click on the download link/button and choose, "Save Target as". You can then designate where you want to download the file to and change the filename if desired. Works for me!!

IF it is a WindowBlinds skin, it is possibly quite old, e.g., pre-version 5.x. or created for version 4.0 or older. This is indicated by the number/type of system buttons in the upper right-hand corner of the window. Unless you are running an older version of WB, my guess is that the skin, again IF it is a WB skin, wouldn't be Win XP compatible either, i.e., things like the Logoff, Shutdown dialogs and Task Pane images would display the native XP dialogs and images.

Make sure that you completely uninstall your current version of WindowBlinds FIRST before downloading and installing WB via Stardock Central. A good practice in situations like this is to uninstall WB using "Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs". Then delete all the application files from the WindowBlinds folder: "C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds". You can, however, leave any skin folders that are in there.
