Did you forget you updated to Windows 10 perhaps? lots of people had the same problem after updating to Windows 10 because Microsoft decided everyone has to have a logon like it or not..... and on top of that, you are not permitted to have a simple easy password, you have to jump through their hoops like a good little dogie and satisfy all the stupid password criteria..... and that was the thing that really pushed my patience over the line! I got

It could just be co-incidence, but a number of times now i have observed something interesting about AI behavior..... You know how the AI often seems to ignore nice worlds away from the players area.... and the game can be very advanced and it still ignores them.... Well strangely, whenever i finally decide to send a colonizer there, all of a sudden the AI wakes up and grabs those worlds before i get there? Its as if the AI somehow knows my coloni
Special "ships built with this improvement" apply the turn the ship is created. If it works even if zero production is provided by the source planet(due to range) then you could conceivably put all those improvements on one planet and just route it to every ship's last turn. But honestly, you should just build more ships rather than making less that are very slightly better.
That's good to know, th

Well i have never seen this problem, but similarly, i do sometimes get messages that my ship cannot survey because it dousn't have a survey module, and then i have no idea which ship or where?? lol But who cares! Also sometimes my colony ship will try to colonize a dead planet and i get a message for that too..... this is significant for you because the issue stems from being able to select a location in fog of war and you don't know there is a planet there and

Oh yes, and the other very important thing to consider for the manufacturing capital is how many nearby planets there are. My best manufacturing capitals EVER, had a number of nearby planets that when combined on the one shipyard, the production speed is mind boggling and no way could my home world match it. Overall its less efficient i know, but when you consider the combined bonuses from shipyard projects - the more production you can force through one single shipyard

hmmmmm ok thanks for that, my head hurts but its starting to make sense! lol Special thanks to zuPloed for putting in so much detailed effort to explain. So if i am looking for a manufacturing capital other than the homeworld, i am mostly considering population potential more than anything else..... got it! that's a good tip! But also i see the advantages to making the homeworld the manufacturing capital

Interesting on the support ships...... so if an enemy destroyed your main fleet but your support ship managed to defeat their last combat ship and you have only support ships left in battle on both sides, the battle would never end? I should explain better.... I mean the battle starting position..... the large hull escort vessel starting position is further back and the small hulled capital ships begin the battle further ahead.

There is always allot of funny business with reloading a game. The other day the Drengin were attacking me with overwhelming force, then suddenly their fleets turned to attack someone else, i was very relieved, but then i ran out of time and had to save the game and go to bed. Next day, reloaded, first end turn of reloaded game, Drengin fleets immediately turned 180 and came back to attack me!!! in hindsight i should have left my computer running overnight!

I noticed the combat ship positioning seems to have changed since 1.8? I used to have a strategy of upgrading obsolete small hull ships to use up logistics in my modern fleet.... the small hull ship will have high weapons and be classed as a 'capital' so my larger more powerful escort ships will protect them. Suddenly after 1.8 the large escort ships hang back and all the small hulled capital ships get creamed! Its a
These bonusses are additive. Meaning that if you have a world with 50 production and +150% manufacturing from buildings and a world with 50 production and +0% from buildings you get the same amount of manufacturing out of the capital (ignoring adjacencies). Same goes for ghost worlds and tech capitals. A ghost worlds gets more out of a thullium data archive though.
I don't get it? [quote who="admiralWillyWilb
Think more like: intuitive trait (free tech at start of game): get manufacturing capital super early + durantium refinery asap, no need to rush buy colonizers tech capitals etc., since they finish fast anyways (on your homeworld but where else would you build an early tech capital). Maybe with going small hulls next you can get some useful 1 turn build time colonizers.

Don't underestimate durantium refineries and thullium data archives. They are awesome to the point where I wonder whether it is worth it not to rush some early colonizers in order to get up a durantium refinery fast; maybe together with rushing a manufacturing capital on the same world.
You mean rush buy early constructors? No, that's what the first colony ship is for (pragmatic ideology - You get the three free

Interesting, thanks... Ok i played what i thought was a good game this last week but again the AI on 'gifted' level came down with fleets i cant touch. Its turn 270 and i would rather quit than watch untouchable fleets destroy all my hard built starbases. My stats are as follows; Wealth 2531 Research 952 Manufacturing 1337 - social 723, military 668 In the timeline all m
Try it. If you like it that way, go for it. I find I am making better use of the anomalies than the AI is in most cases. Occasionally, they luck out and generate a few extra survey ships and really clear out an area. I play on insane maps, so there is a lot of space to search. If you see a survey ship and it seems to be beelining through your territory, then it is probably recovering from a wormhole. Other
Its one of your biggest advantages early game.
Hmmmm but how exactly? In Galciv2 absolutely yes, even in Galciv3 pre-1.8 patch, yes.... but since 1.8 AI can take guarded anomalies with zero damage!! The money is generally very minimal. The technology is great, but its not really helping me early game because i don't have the resources to make us

Thanks.... funny thing is that most of my planets will be economy worlds! My biggest expense early game will a cargo hull survey ship.... (if i can find thalium that it) and production is so useless early game you HAVE to rush buy this survey ship otherwise don't bother at all. If i manage to get more thalium i will build a second survey ship, otherwise none until i get survey technology which i usually try to get fairly quickly, then i will rush buy 2 or three more survey ships..

An interesting thing happened to me, i wonder if it is similar problem? My survey ship went out of range to get around a wormhole.... now you know how a wormhole has that effect of deselecting a destination if it is too close and the ship is directed to a nearby square.... well that nearby square in this case was an out of range square.... Then what happened is that in each new turn after that, my survey ship did not come in the ship cycle list! I forgot about i

Thanks for that.... It also occurs to me that the Survey ship i spot is heading back towards its home because it went on a wormhole and is out of range? However, all things considered, what i want to know is, am i better off just switching anomalies off entirely? I do like the idea of not having to bother with all that searching around.... it is very time consuming, so if there is not all that much advantage too anomalies fo
