I agree wincustomize is a cool website and since I already subscribe to stardock central I would accept the series of solutions that you are considering, I am considering subscribing anyway. After reading this article it makes sense to subscribe, Besides it would be a sad event if you pulled the site down. You could always have a freeloaders section, and label it the freeloaders section, use my skins since they never get above a four star anyway..Ha ha

Comments should always be welcomed, even when some guy ripped off darkstar there were only a few comments. It was such a blatent outright ripoff that you'd have thought everyone would have said something. They all did, some of us just made time to comment on it. If a user downloads your skin then that is a compliment to you and your skin and the idea you presented. They already spoke, you could have ten thousand downloads in an hour and get maybe twent

What are you talking about? Heavy water was a very nice skin, you have the ablity. In fact your skin was one of the first skins I ever downloaded if not The first skin on my computer. In fact I recently downloaded it again and since it does not work with windows xp, I have been in the progress of developing a tribute skin to your work. I call it " Heavier Water" But that name will change because I don't like it. I was thinking " More Water" I wan

Here's my question. I have a skin I wish to upload and present to all the world. But I recently read an article about how strecthing everything in the skin will slow down an already slow machine. I don't want this to happen if someone should download my skin. The trouble is, when the guy made his arguement about tiling VS stretching he failed to mention the correct way to tile. I have no clue and I refuse to spend several days more trying to adjust eve

Stardock has an uninstall program that will do a complete uninstall on their programs, just download it and then run it . It worked once for me on an older version of desktopx. Try it and see if that helps. Good luck

A day or two is fine even a week. If you need to work on the site then fine, go ahead see if I care. It's not like I check in here everyday or every other day, not at all. Sometimes I check in maybe once a week or twice a week maybe more but who keeps track? It's not like I know each wallpaper in the gallery by heart or anything like that nor do I keep a watchful eye on desktop themes, I wouldn't know anything about new or upcoming products or stay abr

Hi, I have created a nice desktop I am comfortable using and am also considering sharing it with the world. I am no good at scripting, despite what frogboy says, it isn't easy and I can't learn it fast enough. I am willing to pay someone if they would like to take a look at my desktop and determine if they can see a widget in the making. I would also give credit where

If you haven't figured it out yet, here is what you do. Open desktopx, and from there you can open the object navigator which should open up to a list of choices, one of those choices should be "new theme" From there you will be given a screen that you can fill with whatever ideas, buttons, icons pictures and widgets you see fit to place there. Remember to save your work often, Have fun

Does desktopx have a script debugger? I want to create one of those nice desktops too, so I've set out to learn script. I'm not sure what the ultimate desktop would look like, or have. I like the looks of longhorn and tab three. I know it would list everthing the computer is doing. I'm anal about watching that stuff, It would be cool to skin other applications, like system suite etc etc. I'm sure those folks wouldn't like the idea too well but I have p

Hi Kona. Try using a program named pest patrol. It eats adware and spyware. You might enjoy the program.

Just hope the folks from stardock command read these things because I wanted to thank them for the information on the Firefox browser. I installed the browser this weekend and love it. I like it so much that it is now my default browser. Hopefully stardock will change it's mind about allowing skinners to load up their skins. So far my skin has incorporated well with the new browser and I ask that stardock just give it time. People will use this browser

Another update, here's what I did. Uninstalled everything associated with desktopx. rebooted and then downloaded the shareware version of desktopx. Then intstalled, and then did the upgrade from stardock central. I still cannot create a system tray object, but I downloaded one from the website and it works fine. Also, objects and widgets are working fine. Now could someone offer a reason to me why a system tray object from another user's outdated versi

I've done a few more things to try and get the new version to work, emptied themes cache, emptied widgets cache.......even downloaded stardocks odzapper so as to do a complete uninstall. Nothing is working out, still have a spoiled version of destopx. Perhaps there is a lesson here. Why offer upgrades upon something working so well in the first place? If it ain't broke don't fix it. My motto all along. See ya. Still looking for fixes so if anyone out t

I've used desktopx on a regular basis and this new version has me blowing smoke from all portels. I cannot create a system tray with the new version and yet I can use all of the widgets and every object can be used. However, as soon as I upgrade through stardock central I lose the ability to use even the simplest object, like the one that has the cat chasing the cursor everywhere. Yet with upgrade, the system tray can be created easily, there just
