Is the system set up to screw you up?

Well, is it?

H'uh?

Good guys finish first in a room full of bad guys?

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade... but you have no sugar or a pitcher to make it in?

When your employer is clearly corrupt in how they handle business and their own employees, do you stay and work, go with the 'flow'? Do you stand up for what is right?

Is the 'system' set up to mess you up? Get sued for something that you own and have the right to sell (like software)?

I don't really think the system is set up to screw you around but it not perfect either and can certainly make you pay when its not your fault (while others get away clear).
Well, what say ye messageboard?

Do the right thing. Good people suffer and bad people profit. Laziness is rewarded while diligence in punished. But in the end, you have to look in the mirror and like what you see. All of the things you talked about are all temporary things, like trying to grasp water in your right hand.

I agree with Sleeping Dragon.
It comes down to whose opinion/sense of what's right you value the most, your own or those of others.

I also agree with Sleeping Dragon. Life is truly unfair at times and good people do suffer while others can do as they please with no consequences. But I always prefer to do the right thing so I too can look in the mirror and be happy with what looks back at me, and to set a good example for my family and those around me.

I like the new icon, pictoratus. Liked the old one, too.

It all adds up over time, so one might as well add some measure of integrity to one's actions so that if and/or when called upon, one can answer with confidence.

As in any training, what we practice is what we do in serious situations.

I have been on both sides of this one, and chose to make conscious choices to do the right thing and listen to my heart and mind together when confronted with unfair situations. I am a mellow person by nature, and want to feel good about my decisions.

People who seem to get away with deception, manipulation, etc., may have to face a situation in the future that would not have been so bad otherwise.

As SD alluded to; we all have to wake up with ourselves.

No-one said the System is perfect. It's been conceived and in time will be evaluated, adapted, etcetera.

All I got to say - if Karma is true, then I must have been one bad mofo in a previous life, because I'm still paying off that karmic debt.

Only the Good Die Young? Is that a song or the trueth? Answer a question with a question? uuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmh
Okay well then I belive that right is right and not who's hand is holding it. I think the good has a responsability we have to weight the situations will it make a deference or not and can I live with it, and will it create hope for tommorrow. Those who have hope care! For with Hope there is light for a better tommorow. Without there is darkness and gloom. So you have to stand for something or you will fall for anything. uuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmhhh sounds like another song.so in saying all this we can turn the other cheek so many times but then we have to make a stand for that wich is right. Without goodness to maintain the flavor of the world there is no hope! To live Honorable and make the right Desesions that is my plea I hope this makes sense and I apologise for my spelling Sometimes a simple question leads to a complex answer because of the ground it covers.

Ok, so here is the question of the day then:
Would you lie to protect your job, even though doing so means getting someone else fired or some other money limiting event?
What do you think is clearly right or wrong? Does it make a diference in the out come in what is right? Is it worth making a stand? Will the outcome effect the good in a positive way? And will it be here to stay or will it fade? Is it that important for sacrifice? These are questions of Responsability. As for lying it is not a good policy you may find yourself looking over your shoulder and trying to remember what you said. there is 3 sides to truth theirs, yours and the real truth (combine) sometimes our vision is not clear because of lack of understanding, wisdom and knowledge and sometimes knowledge cant be found and all we have is hind sight 20/20 so not all answers can be found so we go back to the begining of my statment and ask these question all over again but with one additional thing and that is experiance hind sight.

I don't believe good guys finish last nor do I think that any job or monetary reward is worth my integrity. When I die the only thing I'll take to the grave is my good name. No regrets.

you said a mouthful.

Do you mean something like selling a product that is not worth the price your asking, but if you don't sell the product the other guy will and you would lose your job?

Answer:

Assuming that I know the other guy would lie to the customers, I already know my "opponent's mind" if you will, so I would try to present the product in it's best light using the truth and try to offer the customer ways he/she could use the product successfully. This would leave the decision up to the customer, and I would feel I had done the best job I could without misleading or lying to the customer.

If fate proves to leave me unemployed for the moment, then at least when I interview for another job I would be able to go into that interview with a clean conscience and present myself truthfully.

What is your integrity worth to you? A few dollars? Find a new job. And remember, what comes around goes around, eventually.

Is that similar to - "Discipline is what you do when no one else is around"?
