I'm with Gene on this one. A peanut allergy - sure, I can understand people getting pissed when they're lied to or the staff don't give a correct answer on that. You can't always see peanuts, oils, food additives and the like. But a big piece of cheese? It takes a special person to just take a bite of a burger when they can probably see the cheese hanging out the sides. With an allergy like that he shouldn't be eating foods that are at all likely to contain milk products, and h

In addition, what part of following Darwining theory of survival of the fitest do you not understand. Humanity is the species that doesn't follow Darwin's law. It's pretty obvious we don't - obviously incompetent and inadequate members of the species breed and produce inadequate and incompetent children. It's just the way humans roll. I do not see openly gay people walking the street, holding hands, looking loving
The way I've always seen it is like this: Everyone has an innate hot factor. Only cataclysmic injury or age will erode it, cos it's not based on any one part of their body. You're pretty cute. You'll have to put on a lot more weight before you even start taking away from that. You should pity those poor skinny girls who have to try so much harder to look as good as you do when you don't do anything.
Liberal arts major. I'm not sure anyone could do that as an actual job without being 'of independent means', in which case their real job is being fatcat aristocrats.
Your nation is FAR more nationalistic than ours, and you have NO room to preach! Who's preaching? You guys are saying illegals shouldn't receive healthcare, I'm saying a) it won't cost that much to do it and b) it's a good move if you're not willing to actually bother to police borders, if for no other reason than hygiene and disease control. Australia keeps a quite strict eye on our borders; most illegal immigrants in Oz are Anglo backpackers o
Nice try but no banana, cacto. We send some refugees and asylees there, these folks are not considered 'illegals.' We call them illegals when they turn up in Oz. It's just a matter of terminology. In any event I don't see why people think it's horrendously expensive to let them use a public health system. If a country can afford to pay $400 each for toilet seats they can afford to cover a few million illegals.
Building wall along border. Hand out Welfare checks. I like the building the wall part. a whole bunch, imagine the decrease in cost? It's a bad idea, unfortunately. It would probably cost more to ship in unskilled workers, train them, house them and put them to work than it would to hire a few professional teams. Construction is not an unskilled industry, especially construction of objects suitable for military purposes. Just i
lets send them all to Australia you see that way Australia can take care of them. Please try and avoid showing any more of your ignorance. As you should be aware the US already sends some of its illegals to Australia under the terms of an international agreement between our countries. So in fact some are sent to Australia. As for all illegals, good luck with that. While I doubt Australian patrols would fire on a US navy vessel
Haha, they don't file returns because they work for cash, meaning no income tax is paid in the first place. You really must quit giving Loca so much credence, cacto, lest you start to sound just as ignorant. I thought Gideon said that. Anyway it's not important. You're getting good use out of these workers, you may as well look after them, especially seeing as how your government isn't particularly ruthless about deporting them. The last t
at a 15:1 population difference Australia can afford to care for 20 million a lot easier than 301 million. If you want to believe this you can, but there is no good reason the US cannot benefit from economies of scale. Oh I don't know, maybe it's the "illegal" part that I have a problem with. So they should die from treatable disease and illnesses? From what others have said on this very site they t
All by my stupid, drooling, slack-jawed little pregnant self. Oh Tex, will a single clever thought ever enter that pretty skull of yours? Those tasks would have been so much more competently done by a man! Your husband is probably just trying not to worry you with all the fixing he's had to do! All sarcasm aside... Jythier, I can't believe you've found someone willing to breed with you. The mind boggles.
So why, how can we even think that this person should have a decision that could impact the world, and her own life, with such magnitude? It doesn't make any sense! Exactly! Women should know their place - in the kitchen baking pies. They shouldn't learn to read either, it's a well-known fact that teaching girls to read makes them overheat in the brain cavity and, in extreme cases, permanently sours them against their natural betters, menfolk.
Just because they have a degree doesn't make them anything special. My mum says I'm a special boy.
What about the 10 million 'uninsured' who aren't even Americans? What about them? It's really not that expensive to provide basic health coverage. Here's an excerpt from a Medicare fact sheet from 2001 (it was the easiest to find reference - ): "Australia's total spending on health care, as a proportion of GDP and in the proportion coming from the public sector, ranks in the middle of the developed countries for which data are available. <br
God forbid we live in a society where the consequences of failure can still be felt. No one must ever suffer, ever! Even if their suffering is of their own choosing, it must not be allowed. Consequences for laziness, stupidity, and bad decision making must be ameliorated, softened, if not entirely eliminated. Countries that don't ameliorate the consequences of a retarded population face unrest and, from time to time, rioting and revolution. That's a hist
and yet, as it stands their healthcare costs the taxpayer NOTHING. I can assure you that 2% (or less, if they have private insurance) of the yearly income of a Bill Gates or a Rush Limbaugh should be more than enough to cover their healthcare needs. There may even be some left over for the less wealthy members of society.
I can agree with you. Efficiency is the most essential requirement for a good system, whether socialised or private. I came to political awareness about the time that the Howard government came into office. They sacked a huge number of public servants the moment they came in, with the end result that price efficiency (although not service; that remained about the same) improved dramatically. As an example, following the Bali bombing there were calls for charitable donations to
Are you a professional historian? The Book of Acts once considered suspect has been vindicated by modern discoveries. I'm not a professional historian, but let's be honest - if we want a study of the early Roman Imperial period there are better sources than the bible. Asia Minor was a backwater at that time; the real power centre in the Meditteranean was Rome. Western school students are more likely to benefit from studies of Rome and Greece, th
Again, Australia is not without her transgressions in this regard either, cacto, as I have pointed out. Yes, but they are quite rare cases. You seem to suggest that if the same system were installed in the US there would be transgressions everywhere. If that's the case then Americans obviously don't care overly much about their own well-being, or aren't prepared to do anything when said well-being is threatened. <
no, it's not the healthcare itself. What happens is this: a child comes into the doctor, is growing too fast or too slow, according to the "charts". Doctor alerts CPS. CPS removes the child for neglect. The American people's refusal to hold their government to account is hardly any of my concern. If you refuse to govern yourselves you can expect to get exploited. No, the USSR was socialist, cacto. Communism can take pl
i did that so that she would know it was a joke. so shutup I can't speak for Tex, but frankly it's a little creepy even if it is a joke. It's like saying, "I want to wear your skin as a mask! LOL!" can you provide any evidence to support your claim the majority of journalists working for any major media outlet (and let's include fox in that category to make it easier for you) aren't degreed? I
Someone like yourself would surely be aware of the "forgotten years" referenced in the Midnight Oil song...when the Aussie government stole away children of aborigines to be raised in the homes of white Australians. Was that right? Was that proper? No, it wasn't right and it wasn't proper. But the depressing thing is that many of those stolen and their descendents have a much better life than those left behind. It's pretty depressing. It's a terrible thi
FLAT OUT BS, CACTO. You honestly believe innocent people have never ever been persecuted? No, I was being cynical. You're right of course. Innocent people sometimes do get shafted. But I think, and this is just conjecture of course, that more people will be protected by making everyone go to the doctor for a regular check-up than by letting parents make their own arrangements for their kids. It's for the greater good! (cynicism again)
Easiest way to save pictures on a mac - drag and drop them onto the iPhoto icon. It'll do all the legwork for you.
To effectively teach Christian teaching and history the bible has to be used. Right now Christian History can't be taught outside of hit and run teaching because of this. As a tool for teaching history the bible is somewhat lacking. Its usefulness as an ancient source is reasonable, but frankly the Egyptians, Greeks, Indians and Chinese were doing much more interesting things at that time. The new testament is particularly useless for history -
