Worried about a lack of "randomness"

I havent played the game, but my biggest worry is that there wont be enough "randomness" from one game to the next.

I have ideas on what I would like to see in the game to increase the "uniqueness" from one game to the next, but its annoying when someone who hasnt played the game starts posting ways to change it, or things to add to it

So I was wondering if, instead, some of you who have played the game would inform me about what features the game has that makes each game feel different. What keeps you playing?

Until I have seen the release version it is hard to comment on the random events. I would hope that there are some new events and I am lucky enough not to get the same bug wars (or pick one) event 4-5 times per game.

As to the appeal, in my case I am a bean counter and I like the symmetry of the game.

Don't worry. They will find countless ways to crush you.

There are indeed a number of random events. Additionally, maps and planets are generated randomly based upon a reasonable number of user setup options. I don't think you'll have any issues here.

It is essentially along the same lines as CIV. No one complained about randomeness there, and I can't see how every game would be the same here either.

The random events add much to the game.

Colonization events, home world events, galaxy wide events... having said that... I cant wait for the community to come up with many many more events that we can share and use via mods....

Also, the random events are only 1 facet of what can make each game different from the next. The rest is up to you... how big a map do you want? How many AI? What difficulty setting? What victory condition do you want to strive for? Do you want to be an evil civ or a good civ?

Evil vs Good changes the game tremendously... it affects the bonuses you get through random events, it affects how the other races treat you... etc. etc.
