I would just like to point out that it would be polite if you included the price of the application when posting a link that automatically downloads an application.

Strange that you point this out since it is actually not common practice in this type of announcements. Anyway, besides the download link there is also a link to the Winstep web site - where all the prices are clearly described in detail (not to mention in the software itself).

Plus, the whole idea behind shareware/trialware is that you get to try it for free first and THEN decide if it is worth the price asked for it or not.

Nextstart is very similar to 'Right-click' which is freely available with Object Desktop.

Gef, without wanting to discredit the meriths of Right Click, which is quite good for what it does, that is like saying the Space Shuttle is very similar to a paper plane. Well, errr, yeah...

Awesome. I missed this one!

Agreed, and Nextstart is good for what it does also. It's just my opinion that the differences don't warrant an extra $39.90. Object Desktop only costs $50 and look what you get for that!

I try every form of customization I see and I am a registered Nextstart user

For those only just seeing 'Nextstart' for the first time....it's been around since Adam was a pup....

It's always fun to try each and every 'skinnable/shell/GUI' out there....and see which suits you best....

That's your opinion indeed, and I'm sure many NextSTART users who also subscribe to Object Desktop would quickly disagree with you. Plus, $39.90 is for NextSTART and WorkShelf together, not just for NextSTART - as a registered NextSTART user, you should know that.

Stardock could throw everything and the kitchen sink into Object Desktop and sell it for $1 or even turn it into Open Source - it's their software, their choice - this still wouldn't invalidate that NextSTART and WorkShelf together are more than worth the $39.90 price asked for them. As Jafo mentioned, NextSTART is a mature application in constant development since 1998 and WorkShelf since 2000. What they do, they do extremelly well.

Anyway, I dont see the point of turning this into a piss contest with Object Desktop - and I'm certain Brad Wardell agrees with me on this one.

I have Object Desktop and Nextstart/Workshelf. I couldn't make it without either one.

I've been using both Object Desktop and NexStart for a long time and they are both great applications for what they offer and deliver on and well worth their respective pricing IMHO.

Awesome - I used to be a regular (and registered) user of both NextStart and Workshelf. I think I'm going to have to check it out again.
