ABOUT TO INSTALL FIREFOX -

PROGRAM COMPATABILTY . .

Hello Everybody !
Just a quickie . .
I am thinking about putting FIREFOX 1.5 on my PC, and i am a little worried about whether there would be any program conflicts between my Object Desktop (full version), Windowblinds, and Object Dock and CursorXp- - - I also use DESKTOP SIDEBAR . .
I do not want to be editing registries and other fiddly bits within my pc . .
and also will it be a clean uninstall thru'ADD/REMOVE if I do not wish to continue using Firefox? . . .

There's a million types of setups out there....your's being one of them. The only way you'll truly know the answer to that, is to install Firefox. Some here have no issues with the program in conjunction with others, some do.

As far as uninstalling it, no problems.

You can also test night builds which do not have an installation feature. You simply extract the zip into a folder, launch the browser from there.

The only issue I've had with Firefox 1.5 since I downloaded it is the occasional memory leak -- it took up 160 MB or RAM memory after being left for a few hours...this hasn't happened often (and not recently, in fact) and shutting down firefox fixes it quickly.

I have Object Desktop, Windowblinds, and Object Dock and I haven't had any conflicts yet...although I had some issues with the Amazon.com website yesterday using Firefox (not with IE though).

Yeah, pretty much agree with that.

Some of the forums over at Mozilla.org might have some of the answers you're looking for about uninstalling, etc.

Additionally, you can set a restore point, then install FF. If you have issues, then you don't really have to worry about an "unistall", just roll back the machine.

The only conflict I've noticed with FF and WB is the title bars occationally don't get skinned upon opening FF. This can be fixed by maximizing the window. Havnen't seen any other problems.
I'm actually suprised how much I'm starting to like FF. It's a pretty nice browser.

biggest issue i have seen the the threads here is jumpy pages - it's either tied to FF theme use or extensions

been no straight fix for that

I've run FF 1.5 with Nautilus theme or Phoenicity (sp? on both) and minimal extensions with no issue except every once in a while, depending on the WB skin, menus can be hard read...so i set the per application to skin only title bars and that cleared up

glad you're enjoying it ExodusCrow..it is the best !

ahh..one annoying thing, which i was reminded by when putting the quote in....pressing the Quote button in these forums just brings up an empty quote...being doing that since 1.5 .. i think that neither Stardock or Mozilla owns up to it being their problem, but using Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V works just fine...
