CPU always working

Good Morning,
I've installed Desktop X .

FANTASTIC !!

But I've a problem :

CPU always work !!
Minimun 25% ... with some moment at 99 % !!!!

Pc ... is rallented
What's the problem ?

My pc ... Processor Pentium IV with 2.4Ghz with 512Mb RAM
