Unfortunately it looks like the original piece of news was too long - or something like that. All information related to WorkShelf was 'cut out' from it. Anyway, here goes the missing stuff:

WorkShelf is, in the world of Windows, the Swiss Army knife of user interface enhancements. Intended as a multi-leveled Desktop replacement, it is equally at home functioning as a tabbed program launcher. Like a dock, but better. It enables you to organize your most often used applications and documents into categorized shelves while taking as little screen space as possible: when not in use, WorkShelf automatically collapses into a small strip of tabs. It also gives you quick access to frequently used system folders like the Windows Control Panel, My Computer, Network Neighborhood and more! Throw in it’s task management abilities and support for built-in modules such as a speaking Atomic Clock, Recycle Bin, POP3/IMAP Email Checker, Weather Monitor, CPU, Net and RAM Meters, and a 'fortune cookie' reader (with more forthcoming) and you have a software marvel you’ll soon find you can’t be without.

The true power of Winstep applications really comes to a league of its own when you use them together, since they were designed from the ground up to integrate seamlessly with each other: change a theme in WorkShelf and NextSTART automatically follows up (and vice-versa). WorkShelf uses NextSTART menus and can activate NextSTART hotspots. NextSTART, in turn, can capture WorkShelf desktop modules into its taskbar for an integrated and cleaner look.

While most Windows customization software focuses on eye candy, Winstep applications raise the usability bar to another level: they give added functionality to Windows and complete control over every aspect of the user interface. Even if you are into Windows customization for the eye candy alone, you should give NextSTART and WorkShelf a try: visit Winstep Themes for links to libraries with hundreds of freely available themes to get you started. Unlike other Windows customization software, Winstep applications manage to separate content from looks: changing a theme does not mean you have to redo all your carefully elaborated menus and shelves – just click on a button and the only thing that changes is the look… all your menus, shelves, hotspots, etc, will still be there as before, ready to use.

The best about Winstep applications, however, is that with all their power they remain extremely easy to use: they are not shell replacements and they are not unsupported system hacks. This means you will not be forced to abandon Explorer, modify Windows system files or be stranded with no shell if something goes wrong - nor will you be forced to learn complicated scripts just to install, configure or make it work. Winstep applications have an easy to use Graphical User Interface from which you can control all aspects of the software, and, being shell enhancers rather than replacements, getting back to normal Windows, should you ever need to, is a simple matter of exiting the applications.

Why is it that no themes are being released for Nextstart? I have only seen one or two in the last six months.

Personally, I've had very little time to skin lately. But I have two weeks holiday coming up so I'll see if I can't fit some skinning in then

Jc - yea had to cut the size a little bit so I took the latter part out.

JC - You should write some articles going over the virtues of NextStart/Workshelf over on the ARticle page here.  I'd feature them. Good way to get the word out more.

I SEE THAT YOU ARE OFFERING THE UPDATE OF NEXTSTART V 3.4 & WORKSHELF 1.90. DO YOU THINK I AM GOING TO BUY IT - I DON'T THINK SO.

ON 22 SEPTEMBER 2005, I SENT WESTERN UNION INTERNATIONAL MONEY ORDER TO THE VALUE OF $70.00 FOR ONE OF YOUR PROGRAMMES. HAVE I RECEIVED IT. NO, YET THE MONEY HAS BEEN BANKED. THIS MONEY ORDER WAS SENT OVER TO PORTUGAL IN US DOLLARS.

AM I ANGRY, YES. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME AND I AM JUST FED UP OF BEING RIPPED OFF.

IT IS ONE THING TO BANK PEOPLES MONEY FOR ONE OF YOUR PROGRAMMES, BUT NOT TO HAVE IT DELIVERED IS FRAUD.

IF YOU WISH TO REPLY TO THIS EMAIL PLEASE DO SO. MY EMAIL ADDRESS IS [email protected]

George, I indeed received your Western Union money order, which, as it happens, I still have with me. It was for $39.90, not $70, and I did NOT cash it for the very simple reason that bank costs would actually be HIGHER than the value of the money order (that, by the way, is also why we don't accept International checks). I suggest you talk to Western Union or to your bank and find out what happened to your money.

Even though I did not cash your money order, I still tried sending your key - but the email address you wrote in the money order form was wrong and the key bounced back. Under the circumstances, there was nothing else I could do. You never even tried to contact me, although you could do so easily either by email or through the Winstep Forums. Why?

George, please keep your business private.  Also, please don't type with caps lock on.

Accusing people of fraud, particularly publicly, is a very serious charge.  WinStep is a very good company that has provided good support and service to users around the world for years.

Thanks Brad. No online company would be able to stay in business for long if they did what he accuses Winstep of. What really gets to me is that he NEVER tried contacting me or Winstep about this issue! Instead, his only action is to bring this into the open here, and with something as serious as a fraud accusation. I don't think he realizes how serious his acusation is and how liable he can be for it, but oh well...

I sent him an email to the address he left here and I got a 'message could not be delivered' warning. Enough said.
