when is it available for everyone?

If you start running into activation thresholds from having lots of betas in the past, please email [email protected] and I'll try and reset things tonight as they come in. WB4 customers since Sept 1 who are entitled to WB5 will not have access until sometime Tuesday the 29th (EST time). Same with being able to upgrade to WB5 from WB4 or download the shareware version.

Woo hoo! I'm just in the middle of updating it via Stardock Central.

One thing I just noticed, though - Stardock Central is really chewing up the CPU. It's been running at 100% since I started, and it's only downloading the update. Any ideas on that?

It's available now for Object Desktop subscribers. You'll probably need to uncheck the "show pre-release versions" option in Stardock Central if you've been using the beta.

It should update cleanly from the betas, but if in doubt, uninstall, REBOOT, and only then reinstall. The 5.0 release needs a reboot to start skinning after the initial install. That's something we'll tweak in a future build, but it needed more testing and didn't make the cut.

Some painting issue turned up at the last minute for the XP SP2 wireless connection dialog painting black in one bit (seems to be skin specific to SP2). It's still usable, but that's something we'll try and nail down. Along with updating the language files to support translating the new strings.

This is the reason why I became a OD subscriber over a month ago! Windowblinds 5.0 is downloading right now as we speak! I would also like to congratulate the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL (Canadian Football League) for winning one of the best Grey Cup Championships in the 93 year history of the league on Sunday... GMT-7, here. Stardock is GMT-5. Finally got the scones to DL and upgrade to WB5. Went thru Object Desktop, and all worked fine. Thank you, everyone!

Any difference between WB 4.99a[rc].003 and 5.00.001?....other than designation.
Not that it really makes any difference. I'm happy to have the full release just the same.

I'm downloading it right now. Unfortunately, my transfer rate is averaging about 10 kb/sec, most likely due to the traffic I imagine your servers are getting.

WindowBlinds 5!!

Updates via Stardock Central are slower than we would like, as we're still sorting out download threads fighting over who gets to sit in the front seat. There will be a WindowFX beta supporting WB5 before Christmas. There are some minor tweaks to things over the last RC build to make sure all the builds were in sync, but it's very similar to the 4.99a RC.
