This place is driving me crazy!!!

I must be insane to put up with this. I just renewed my OD Net sub a couple of days ago and looked forward with great anticipation to giving WB5 a run. I mean the skins are absolutely beautiful!

Anyways, I try updating to WB5 and after almost TWO HOURS to download a 7 meg file (I know I'm on dial-up, but come on!!!), SDC crashes with just 2% to go! Mind you, this happened 4 or 5 times before I gave a cry for help. But finally, with a little help from my friends, I was eventually able to get WB5 download, installed, and running. (Again, thanks to those who came to my rescue.)

Anyway, it occurs to me that, probably the vast majority of us here at WC share a love/hate relationship with Stardock and their products.

For you see, when Stardock apps work, they work beautifully; but when they don't work, they bring many of us to fits of tears and rage (See-->Link ) that would definitely be frowned upon by a populace that already thinks were nuts for this obsession we have.

And I don't think that I'm too far off the mark when I compare it to a love/hate relationship. Think about it. In a love/hate relationship, one moment you're thinking, "How did I ever get along before I found you?" The next moment, you're ready to throw Stardock and their software out and file for a divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences (you want the software to function. And it refuses to.).

Also, keep in mind that this love is obsessive, because for every time we vow to exercise ourselves of Stardock and it's software, eventually we end up going back for more of the of the same torment. Now if that don't describe a love/hate relationship, I don't know what does.

Oh yeah, I'm also gonna renew my WC Sub next month!

But I guess it come down to the good outweighing the bad. To quote Diana Ross, "If there's a cure for this, I don't want it, I don't want it."

Hey, don't mind me. I'm just venting. Am I alone in this or does anyone else feel the same?[

There is a bit of a roller coaster ride involved with the software, updates, and setting things up the way you want them.

Basically, we are pretty much playing around on the cutting edge, so temporary set backs (fits of displeasure, if you will) - seem to be part of the ride.

I find myself being grateful that IconPackager (official releases) and ObjectDock (official releases) are solid and always useful on my system. This helps when the "Luna" shell is used to fall back on during any disagreement with other programs.

To answer your question:

"You are not alone....."

I would be it's more a minority.
