Is Skins Factory or Alienware Missing a great opportunity?

Now i have been using the stardock products for 2 years now and i have bought some of the extra skins made available. now wouldnt it be a better idea instead of doing the exclusive to this pc kinda stuff that leave those who bought computers recently or am not going to order to another country to get a computer just for a theme. They have a washington redskins theme i would easily pay for a Patriots theme, or an NHL styled theme. The market is there.

Maybe add to it that afetr say a year of being exclusive, alienware charges a small amount for just the themes

Am i out to lunch on this? i mean lets put a ballpark 15 to 20 dollar US tag, how many sorts fans do you think would put that down to have their team on their desktop? Fans spend huge amounts of money to decorate walls, floor, cars, windows {non pc kind}.

I hope this is the right section to post this

I started a Patriots theme awhile back. Maybe I should revive it.

Well... yes and no.

If Alienware wants something for its customers ONLY and is trying to make more incentive to buy their computers with the ability to say, "not only do you have a modded computer hardware but the OS is modded too", then the answer is no.

Why make it available to everyone when it suppossed to be a way of making people want to get the computer or add more value to those who were going to buy it anyway.

The other side reallydepends on how they are marketing. You'll notice the WMP is free. Sort of like a teaser for those who don't have an ALIENWARE computer.

Same thing goes for NHL, NBA, NASCAR, NFL, Warner brothers, New Line Cinema, Dubs magazine, Hot Inport Nights (HIN), Playboy, Microsoft, Nike, and a hole list of others...

It really depends on what or who they are targeting. ALIENWARE is targeting people who will or want to by a new computer not people who have no interest in buying their product.

The quality/appeal of TSF's works are a draw-card to Wincustomize.com, as are any skinners' works of similar professionalism.  Hosting their works, or linking to their works hosted elsewhere is a pleasure...

that is true Joetheblow, sports themes should be revived. There are not enough generic sports themes out there. Maybe i am being a little picky but the only way i can get alienware is from the states and with duty and all that crap i can buy 2 computers here in canada. so looking at their displays of oooo look what you could have does nothing for me.

I was under the impression that sports themes couldn't be made because of strict copyrights on the sports teams logos.

Use the sports team colors. Pick a sports star number or jersey. Put a football on the XP panel. Heck, a theme of a footbll staduim won't hurt anybody.
