So you want to turbo-charge your Windows PC eh?  Where do you start? What programs are available?

I've gone through virtually all the programs I'm familiar with and tried to put together a reasonably comprehensive guide to customization.  It's by no means complete, there are hundreds and hundreds of different programs available. But I do try to cover most of the main ones including WindowBlinds, Microangelo, IconPackager, Avedesk, Winamp, IconX, IconDeveloper, Konfabulator, Kapsules, DesktopX, Sysmetrix, Samurize, ObjectDock, NextSTART, ObjectBar, Litestep, Talisman, Aston Shell, CursorXP, Windows Media Player, LogonStudio, BootSkin, Trillian, XFIRE, and Theme Manager.

What is that?
Windows Media Player? Do I have that on my system already?

SysMetrix... sounds cool, but what is a 'sys' and why would I want a matrix of it?

The Windows Media player is inside of windows xp. or download from microsoft.
