It's a minor miracle!

My son just turned 11.

He's a typical boy....room's always a mess, likes pizza and video games, enjoys sports and getting dirty.

I guess you have to be a parent of a small boy in order to comprehend how huge what I'm about to say is....why I would consider this a minor miracle.

He took a shower, and I didn't have to ask/tell/force him to!

He did it, and he did it under his own steam!

He went in the bathroom, ran the water, got under it, soaped and shamppoed up, rinsed off and then yelled for a towel because he couldn't find one.  Nobody berated him, nobody nagged him, I never even mentioned it, in fact the first I knew about him being in the shower was when he hollered for someone to bring him a towel.

I'm awed.  It's a miracle!  A miracle, I tell ya!  He took a shower!  All by himself!

Before I go to bed tonight I will say a prayer of thanks to whatever gods had a hand in this event.  I know there had to be some divine intervention in this, 11 year old boys simply don't take showers without having to be told to.

Miracles really DO happen!

I was about 12 when I started doing it without being told.  Next up are girlfriends.  Why do you think he is starting to notice how he looks and smells?

This is great. I totally understand this one.

*chuckle*

That's always a good sign that "the times, they are a changin'!"

When he starts looking for cologne ... that's when you should get worried.

Maybe one day...

I have no idea.  Must be his age....

I totally understand this one.

I'm glad someone does!

He asked me to buy him some of that Axe body spray....I said that I'd think about it.

Have faith, it WILL happen.  If it can happen to my son, the boy who once claimed he was allergic to water and soap, it can happen to your boys as well!

I'd hold off until his showers are more regular. He may want to opt for "de-odorizer" instead of actual washing.

Yeah, his dad had that talk with him before he left and explained that you have to get clean before you put deodorant on, you can't just keep layering it on and hoping that it covers up the smell. Looks like he must have paid attention!

Well, if he did pay attention to that, maybe he's also paying attention to the advertising for the Axe "body spray" that he's ... *ahem* ... "axing" for.

Nah!  As soon as they hit teens, then they just get stupid!  But Clean!

He is.  I found out why he's all clean and dressed.  There's a girl that he likes....and she likes him.

Uh oh, gasoline and perfume are the #1 chemicals that lead to teen male stupidity....my 16yr old now takes 2 showers per day, used over 800 min on his cell phone last month, preens and primps endlessly....our latest cure, or at least immunization....he starts stocking shelves at the local Grocery Store this week.....

Thank goodness his older brother set enough bad examples that the 16 yr old affirms daily that he will not repeat them. Just yesterday he pledged abstinance with his latest flame, as his 1yr old nephew sat in his lap........
