Try downloading the file to a specific location on your hard drive and then double-clicking the file to install it. -or- download it using the right click method and selecting save target as.

the file extension for a Windowblind skin should be .wba

You're not registered

Un-install the WB shareware version. Download http://storage.stardock.com/files/sdcentral_setup.exe and install SDC. Open SDC and register the WB app (and anything else you bought) in lower right with the info Stardock sent in it's purchase email. Install WB using SDC.

What exactly is "Access Class"? And if I have OD and WC subscriptions, why am I only a citizen?

Because you're one of the nameless rabble (such as myself). Be careful what you wish for....with rankage, a fall from grace becomes dizzying..........

The User Level is the one that counts. It displays what you've bought. ........and....... it can't hurt you.....

AH. Thanks for the reply, yraq. I'm assuming Access is exactly as it implies...? So I won't wish for the rankage, just trying to understand the new WC policy which mentions access groups or what not...thought there was a correlation I didn't perceive correctly. Plus I look way too far into things at times...BLAH!

So i cant use the skins from wincustomize because the windowblinds that i have is only the shareware version. I need to get the stardock first and install windowblinds from stardock. Correct? and your link doesnt work

Shareware or paid you should be able to use the skins - shareware doesn't skin everything.

But...You said you purchased WB, so...follow Yrag's advice. Uninstall your shareware version (if you install the paid over it, it get's confused) The link works when I click it...it should open a 'you've chosen to download' window. After you install the SDC manager/browser register your WB, then use the SDC to download and update to the paid version.

In regards to your original question: when you download a WB skin what is it saving as? If it's .zip, look inside and see if there is a .wba in it. If it's full of pics and stuff, then rename the .zip to .wba and double click it. If it's a .wba inside, then unzip it and double click the .wba.

I did all of it and i am stil not able to download skins. When i download a skin it says the same thing, there appers to be no .uis file in this skin. But now it it says a new skin has been installed go to properties appearance to apply this skin. I go to appearance and the skin is not there. Some of the skins i download but its just a folder and i open it up and there is a bunch of files and i dont know which one to press to set the skin. Any help would be appreciated, because this thing is really annoying me i just wanna change my skin to the SophOS 4.7 (build Gazelle) Beta, someone please briefly explain to me how to fix the problem

The folder with the files inside is the skin folder, which contains all the files that WindowBlinds uses to apply said skin.

This folder needs to be in the "C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds" folder.

Once in the folder, you should be able to start WindowBlinds (if using the WindowBlinds 5 beta "4.95", you would click the "Rebuild List" button to load the new skins into the list.

Select the skin you want, and then click either "Apply this skin now" or "Apply changes" as you normally would in the shareware version.

Note - for downloading content, I recommend using the method described in my mini tutorial here http://corkyo.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?SID=5463&AID=82563 - once downloaded, simply double-click the file to install into the WB sub-directory listed above > start WB > select and apply skin.

If this fails, you may have something else going on.
