Getting Widgets through Proxy

My widgets don't seem to be using the proxy settings set by IE explorer or firefox. I can not get my widgets to connect to the internet. I can take the URLs that they are trying to access and get to them through my browsers.

How do I make my widgets work from behind the proxy?
