WB 5 Beta Problem

Hi everyone I just downloaded Object Desktop, and I don't know how to get Windowblinds 5 Beta. When I open up Stardock Control Center there's a Windowblinds 5 icon. But when I click on the run button, it shows up as Windowblinds 4.6(build 214). Anyone out there have any suggestions how I may go about getting WB5 Beta? Thank you, Justino

You will need to have "Show pre-release versions" selected in the Stardock Central program before access to the WB5 download is available.

Also, it is recommended (if not required) that you have any previous installations of WindowBlinds uninstalled.

Once you have registered your Object Desktop product (using the serial number sent to you in an e-mail from Stardock), you should be able to install all programs that are part of the Object Desktop package (both pre-release and official releases).

For a mini tutorial on installing Object Desktop, you can go here http://corkyo.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?SID=5463&AID=83625

Note #1 - this assumes you purchased Object Desktop and not just WindowBlinds.

Note #2 - during the WindowBlinds 5 beta installation, the "Activate.exe" file will need to access the internet to activate WindowBlinds, and then you should reboot the computer after the installation completes.

You must reboot to apply your first beta 5 skin, if you haven't already.

Italy02,

If you have rebooted as scorpio-logic indicates, and then clicked a skin in WindowBlinds configuration panel to show the skin in the preview pane - you should be able to do one of the following to apply:

1 - Click the "Apply this skin now" link (found inside the skin preview pane)

2 - Click the "Apply changes" link (found on the left side of the configuration panel)

If neither of these work, please use the "Troubleshooting" link to generate a troubleshooting report, and then copy and paste the text of the report into a new comment in this (or a new) thread.

Someone from Stardock should be dropping by to check on posts, and to see if there are any bugs that have not been addressed and fixed.

Note - if you are not able to apply a skin after trying the steps above, I would suggest trying to uninstall > reboot > reinstall > reboot - to make sure that the activation and registration of program components is completed successfully. Since it is a beta, there may have been a simple glitch during installation, or there may be an issue with compatibility.

Note #2 - if all else fails, you can uninstall > reboot > start Stardock Central, and deselect the "Show pre-release versions" > install WB 4.6 until a fix comes about.
