will not update

stardock central: want to update, press ok, and nothing happens ?

hey

I just bought this lovely new set of software from you, but the pre-release of WB5 will not update ? my current version of it is "4.60.048" and it says i need to upgrade to version "4.90g[b].003" but every time i press the "update" button nothing happens ?

Right now the Beta version of 5 is only available to Object Desktop Subscribers. Did you get the whole disk?

Did you uninstall the version 4.6 first?

If not, uninstall WB 4.6 > reboot > start Stardock Central (you will see two listings for WB - 1 WB4, and 1 WB5) > select and install the WB5 listing (Activate.exe should attempt to access the internet to activate the program just before installation completion) > reboot after successful activation and installation > use WB5 beta.

okay, i tried what corky_o suggested, but after i uninstalled the wv4.6 - the wb4 only shows up after reboot? how can i be sure that i have a desktop subscribsion =? i have bought the WB suite from them. do i need any thing else ? and can you give me a link to where i can buy it ?

Do you have the "Show pre-released versions" option selected (check box at bottom of Stardock Central window)?

If you only purchased WindowBlinds, and not "Object Desktop" - then the failure to update to WB5 beta earlier (and it's not showing now) is due to the fact that WB5 beta is only available to Object Desktop subscribers - as mentioned by Bichur in comment #1.

If you purchased Object Desktop, have you registered your Object Desktop product using "Stardock Central > Tools > Register Products"?

For a mini tutorial on installing Object Desktop, you can go here http://corkyo.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?SID=5463&AID=83625 - it includes the "Registering Products" procedure.

Note - the portion of the mini tutorial that deals with "Settings" is geared towards beginners, and therefore recommends the user deselect the "Show pre-release versions" in the settings configuration - just select this one in your case.

BTW - if you do not have Object Desktop, then any listing for WB5 beta is probably a glitch in Stardock Central - which was either showing the WB5 due to registration information not being available, or some other bug.
