WinCustomize Subscription - Judgemen Day

WinCustomize Subscription - Judgemen Day

I have subscribed only and only because I wanted to help out. Most of the skins I use, I get from Deviant Art and elsewhere for free - same skins that are being posted here. I knew right from the start that wincustomize would not get 1000 new subscribers because the attractions were very poor. What you can find here, you can find almost anywhere or they will find you. Wincustomize keep saying you'll get premium themes when you subscribe (old windowblinds that aren't fully skinned with no IconPackager), but they failed to show you what you're getting - No screenshots. They make promises of new skins, but most people only believe in what they can see. I registered, but I have no intention to create my own page or use the extra features.

If Wincustomize had a few good desktop themes, not unfinished Windowblinds skins, but highly premium themes in the range of 'Alienware Star Wars', 'Abracadabra', 'Pixxy' and had screenshots to convince people these themes are awaiting for them, they would subscribe like crazy. I have faith in Mike Bryant; he alone can create stunning themes to blaze Wincustomize with countless of new subscribers. Wincustomize weren't prepared for the goal though they deserve the support. As a Wincustomize subscriber, I'm still getting the same skins elsewhere I can still find here. Give them something they can't find anywhere else, but require them to subscribe. Considering the amount of the subscribers during the drive, it is still a success.

To all visitors:
Ask not what Wincustomize can do for you; ask what you can do for Wincustomize. At the ends, Wincustomize can do something for you that you can’t find anywhere else.

Same post as before. "Why can't you get something for free?" Not even amusing anymore. Next?

You do realize that there is a new premium (excellent quality) Windowblind available. It is by Mike Bryant and it's called RIP. Check your subscriber resources https://www.wincustomize.com/resources.aspx

Also, it seems that Stardock is currently working on having the premium skins updated/replaced since this has been mentioned again and again for quite a while now.

It just takes some time to create high quality skins. Patience....

Sorry, but that's not entirely correct! Mike Bryant is one of the greatest skinners ever, but he's not the only one who creates great themes, and should not be singled out as being WC's lone saviour. There are many other contibutors who create great skins to help make this an interesting and great community....not to mention their articles, tutorials and support of others.

It's true, some of the skins can be found on other sites, but not all, and perhaps some are available elsewhere and not here, but not too many other sites offer the same sense of community and belonging as here. Although WC began primarily as a skinning site, it has become much, much more. Some may come here to find skins, but many also come here to meet others of similar interests; to post thoughts and comments on a variety of topics; to learn more about skinning and computing from the skinning tutorials, news items and Stardock support pages. Perhaps some of these things can be found elsewhere, but how many of them in the same place, other than at WC?

Furthermore, given that Wincustomize is inextricably linked to Stardock, and so many of the skins are made for Stardock applications, a WC subscription is of even greater value when Stardock staff man the support pages to offer advice and solutions to various software and/or related skinning issues. I have not seen this support anywhere else, and even if I don't use all the available services, they're there should I ever need to, and my subscription has been more than reimbursed by the spirit of community and help I've received here....irrespective of the skins I've downloaded

Wincustomize is about alot more than just skins, but more people need to embrace this, rather than continually taking it all for granted, to feel a need to subscribe and help with the operational costs involved in hosting the free skins.

I still think the older premium content should be updated, too. Along with the purchase themes in the WC store, btw. Toon XP for example should be brought to new glory and Carbonix. I would be very angry if I bought one of these just to find they are really outdated.
