Strange- fast system, slow dock?

I started using OD at work. I liked it so much I bought the pro version. It runs great at work on an AMD ~1Ghz machine running Win2000 with 256mb ram. I just got a new system at home and I installed OD there and it is VERY slow. The new system is P4-3Ghz with 1Gb of ram. The whole system runs noticably slower, Firefox in particular runs slow and sluggish. IE runs better. As soon as I unload OD the machine starts flying... zip, zip, zip...

What is OD doing to this machine? It should be fast, at least as good as the older machine, but it just drags everything down. I uninstalled it a couple of times... cleaned it out good and reinstalled it, but the result is the same everytime... slow.

There is very little on this machine that could be interfering with it. Could it be a video problem? It seemed to get worse after I added a graphics card to replace the onboard graphics.

Thoughts?

How do you lot activate the other monitor when there is no monitor attached? I got an DELL 8300 2.8GHz, 1GB RAM, WindowsXP SP2+, ObjectDock+ (and a whole lot of ODNT software) with a ATI RADEON 9800. I also get a this lag when minimizing progrtams and a general Firefox slowdown. I don't notice this on my 1.6Ghz, 1GB RAM Laptop with similar setup running on a nVidia GeForce Go 6400.

I also notice a great slowdown with Firebird. Very sluggish with OD, very snappy without.

I have a 4200+ in a ASUS A8N-SLI Premium MB with 2g mem and 2 6800GT 256mb video cards. I assure everyone it is not the system that is causing the OD to lag out. I have the same issues everyone else is having and have tried everything everyone else has tried still the same problems.

I have disabled all docklets then removed by hand the clock docklet too. This could be the answer for me at least. Before the clock was removed i had nothing but issues now all is good! (CROSSING FINGURES THAT ARE KNOCKING ON WOOD!) I dont want to think i wasted 20 bux on something that is sooooo awesome!

I noticed that I got a slight lag when I had quite a few DesktopX objects covering the screen. I'm beginning to wonder if it is a thing ATI card/drivers along with layered windows in general and not OD it self.

I borrowed a second monitor from one of my housemates just to give it a go. When I wasw using dual monitors the lag completely went away. And it came back again when went back to only one.
