Can someone help me with a Gmail problem?

I have Sysmetrix, Incredimail, DesktopX, a mail notifier widget, and AVG Antivirus. I can't seem to get the widget to read the Gmail account. I keep getting a error regarding contacting the server, or if I try to check the account through Sysmetrix, it disconnects my dial up connection. Can anyone tell me what may be going on? Thanks for any advice you have to offer>

sometimes for the user name part, you have to have {username}@gmail.com ~ not just {username} - i just use the gmail notifier

As Island Dog pointed out...have you tried Link ? It worked for me. Once I double checked my password.

The widget worked well. (Thanks Bichur.) Smooth as silk. Can anyone tell me why I seem to be having probs with sysmetrix or the Omni mail widget?

I don't know if this has any anything to do with the problem, but I do have pop enabled on my account. Should it be set to something else?

Thanks to all for the tips and advice!

POP3 Gmail uses a different port than normal POP3 accounts, nearly all widget and other mini programs are hard coded to use the default port number.
