VERY FRUSTRATED

Is it ME?????

Hello,

I am VERY FRUSTRATED right about now & am almost regretting spending the money I did for object desktop, CursorXP etc. I have been trying for 3days now to apply suites & themes ( not sure what the difference is but there are two diff categories s I am assuming there is one)EVERY SINGLE ONE says that nothing is downloaded for the themes, icons, cursors, window blinds. I had originally downloaded in the .zip format & extracted them, then read the post explaining that that was exactly what NOT to do, so I followed that & renamed everything accordingly -still nothing. Then I went & downloaded all the themes/suites again only this time changing the extension b4 they downloaded -still nothing. Then finally I tried to apply the suites & got the popup sayng that it was downloading the needed components & applying but nothing gets applied. Then finally I tried to it one component @ a time but that only seems to change my cursors correctly, I could understand if it was just one or two, but I'm talking over TWENTY!!! I have my fingers crossed that someone will...please help? I'd hate to have to give this up & ask for a refund because I can see that it will be great fun to play with EVERYTHING.

Here is my system configuration:
WinXP Home
Radeon 9600 XT
On board sound card C-Media (for now)
Direct X 9.0c(something like that)

Any help or suggestions would be more than greatly appreciated!! Thank-You in advance!!!

What programs have you installed?

Suites are a collection of themes bundled together to create a package. A suite would contain a windowblind theme, icon packager theme, wallpaper, etc. Some have more themes or less.

Hang in there. The people around here will get you straightened out.

IndigoRoses,

You may be running into an issue with Theme Manager that seems to appear intermittently.

First, start by making sure the Object Desktop programs are all installed correctly (for a review on this procedure, you can go here http://corkyo.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?SID=5463&AID=83625

2 - Make sure all the installed programs will start by clicking their icons in the Start>All Programs menu.

3 - Download content files using the method described here http://corkyo.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?SID=5463&AID=82563 - this is not the only way, but will allow you to download the files with the original extension intact.

4 - Download a ".suite" file from the Suites library using above method, and then double-click to apply.

5 - If you still have issues, you can manually apply these suites by changing the ".suite" extension to ".zip", and extracting the contents.

6 - After extracting the contents, you will either have a preview image, perhaps an icon, and a "WinStyles.ini" file - or you will have a preview image, perhaps an icon, and a "WinStyles.ini" file, and a few folders which contain the skin files for the various programs.

7 - For the files with just the preview, icon, and WinStyles.ini file, you can open the WinStyles.ini file and look under the [Files] entry > copy the address after the "PROGRAM NAME =" listing > Paste into the address bar of your Internet Browser > hit Enter > download should start automatically.

8 - After downloading files, you can double-click to apply, or place them in the correct sub-directory depending on the file type that downloaded.

9 - For the ".suite" file that contains the skin folders, you can just copy or move those to the correct sub-directory.

10 - In both methods listed in #7 & #9, you would start the individual programs after installing the skins, and apply.

Sorry that I do not have a better fix for the Theme Manager isssue. Hopefully someone else will drop by with an easier solution.

Note - you can click my name to go to my page, and you will see a list of the current mini tutorials I have posted, which should help you understand the programs a bit better from a basic file structure point of view.
