Awaiting Moderation....

Any ideas on this one? I have three bootskins Awaiting Moderation and they've already been 6 days there,now running for their seventh! Any admin knows why? Stuck,forgotten,bad upload? Some help please...

There are (were) 30 bootskins in the queue which I have now cleared. I've been off for a week (not feeling well) but I don't know where anyone else is. Maybe just co-incidence everyone is not here at the same time. Bit like busses really, you wait hours for one then they all come at the same time

Hey Cyberworld, since your question has been answered I will ask one here.
I agree that the dates should be updated when a skin has sat awaiting moderation too long.
When this happens seems skins by update date show up first in gallery. I uploaded a bootskin today
which got looked at by Fuzzy with the rest of the queue. The 22 that had date updated are first in bootskin gallery, mine is the only one with 9/24 create date so is the newest but is 23rd skin in. As of posting this it is not showing in This just in or as one of the 5 bootskins on Gallery tab page. These both normally refresh rather quickly do they not.

I've not had a submission show up in the gallery yet. Only have three but each has taken the suggested 5 days to approve and then I eagerly dash into the gallery and there is no sign of my lil OD icons. I understand now why that is happening. I thought really there was some kind of system in place where more popular skinners get submissions approved very quickly and new users have to wait. Weboso just seemed to get his excellent pikiki.com blog icon in really quick, I just saw that appear at deviantart and now its live here too.

It must be a real chore having to go through submissions daily for eternity though and I'm not complaining, just observing how Wincusto works really. Now I've learned that I can submit icons to DA instantly, I'm not champing at the bit so much wondering if an icon will get approved here lol

Site bugs I can do nothing about, that's a job for T-Man and crew. The gallery should sort by create date, apparently it does not...

Default sort by for galleries is by update, logged out to make sure. Now that skins are being updated when sitting to long, the default sort by should be changed to create date. Since a skin with update date does not show in this just in or gallery tab page, still not sure why mine which is newest by create date is still not in either.
That makes a couple things for T-Man and his crew to look into.

Basically the thing is for skins to show up exactly the moment they get moderated at the top of the list. In this case though is rather difficult since the skins passing moderation are just too many. But i do agree that your skin should show up first in line.

Hey Cyberworld, getting buried behind the updates would not be so bad if my skin was showing in This Just In etc as it should. This update of skins sitting too long has been happening often for bootskins.

I should have taken a look at Logons, just uploaded one the noticed 18 logons with update date, if mine gets looked at before it needs an update to date it will go behind all these in gallery. Not all do moderation but according to the about site page,WC Admins, Advanced Wizops and WC Wizops = 28 people.
22 bootskins and 18 logons had to have date update, why? I know they have jobs and their own lives. Is everyone hoping everyone else will do moderation.
The system needs some tweaking.

OK now I am confused, logon showing top of gallery with create date. There are three new bootskins at top of bootskin gallery by create date. Why did my bootskin, Drifted, get buried behind the updates.

Who knows   I just work here...   I'll let T-Man know about all these issues, maybe something can be done to tweak the dates somehow.

Anyway, I'm done for the day. I think four hours of downloading and trying 30+ Bootskins, 27 Logons, 30+ Misc Icons, 30+ Object Dock items, 15 screenshots, typing numerous rejection e-mails is enough - I'm off to get some chocolate

Why did my bootskin, Drifted, get buried behind the updates.

Because the list is be default sorted by date of approval, not date of upload.
So you can actually upload something on Monday and something the following Friday and still get to see the Monday upload higher on the list than the Friday upload.

At last the date of approval is a better system than creation date. But for skins that get updated, they should only show on the Gallery Page and not in the Just In List of skins. System needs some tweaking,weeding out the code.

PS: Been having some issues with Updating the pages,maybe some cookie thingy...

All these skin approved the same day, within a couple hours. So new should be before update, even when update due to sitting awaiting moderation.

I can relate Cyberworld.....don't know what happened to the turnaround of between 1 & 5 hrs.....a friend of mine who is a graphic designer went thru some very weird approval process for days on end for some simple U.S. & Canadian Bank pngs leaving a very bad impression as a new participant to this site........get this.........my logon skin upload has been pending for 3 days....has been successfully uploaded & viewed that long on Skinbase.....did them the same day; just got an approval e-mail at 7:30 am this morning & with weary anticipation, checked the archive & it still isn't presenting even though when I paste the "view" link from the approved e-mail it does....I see it but only I....the public doesn't

Depends on its rating mate. If it is below two stars then the public can't see it and if you are not a subscriber then neithr can you,dunno about your status of Current Customer though... I know it is not a very fair thing to do,but it is a WC rule,dunno what serves.

I am doubtful anything I would submit would rank that low Cyber........if so, another numerous incidence of bad PR on this site....if so inclined you may view it on Skinbase; simply do a search for "logo_encarta" in Logons....no, it truly isn't posted to the archives in any fashion as it still doesn't appear in my account "Skins" list.........& yeah, there was a time that one could set account lowest ratings to view to "0"....I always preferred that because there were occassionally some that were ranked brutally low that were actually very fresh & innovative & definitely deserved better

WC Admins, Advanced Wizops and WC Wizops = 28 people.

That's very much not representational, as it includes people who are not skin upload moderators.  Some of us are responsible for lengthy email responses. etc....that take up a significant amount of time.  Only those who receive them are likely to comprehend just how much.

A section such as Logons 'may' have only 2 or 3 people actively moderating to any real extent, and it's specifically done as 'committed volunteer', not $10 per hour commercialism, so should be viewed as such.

In the past week or two, additional mods have been press-ganged into action...but it'll take a little while for them to get up to speed.

It's not reasonable to equate/compare upload/approval times with other sites where submissions can be considerably less frequent.

Also, in the past week or so the moderation pages have been in state of flux due to coding upgrades, causing processing times to be lengthened [eg. the email system being one minor problem]....

Logo Encarta has a rating of 1-Star!!! That is why is not showing anywhere... And since this seems like an initial rating it has no downloads either...

You forgot to qoute the first part of my statement, I should have made it clearer by saying they have access level to moderate even if they are not setup to moderate.

if you check 30 bootskins to see if they work.....then why all my bootskins didn't work until Cavan1 warned me about it before it was too late?

i know that you're busy but when you check bootskins...do you see if they actually get past the booting up part or do you see if the bootskin is actually what you see on the preview?

Maybe he took it for granted that you actually knew what you were doing Bash ?

Not putting down anyone that makes boot skins..but..I can see how this can be a job noone wants to do..lots of rebooting over an over again .
I know a lot love boot skins...when I reboot..I go to to the " Ladies room " I dont hang out waiting to see my boot screen that often.
Besides..they addressed this same statement in another thread when you wrote it before. Just be thankful Cavan 1 took the time to tell you.

I didn't moderate any of your bootskins, besides, it is up to the individual to make sure their own work functions correctly before going public   What galls me is the fact you made (inverted commas) all these bootskins and didn't actually use them, if you had, you would have seen they didn't work - how irresponsible is that? It isn't the fault of anyone but yourself that your bootskins didn't work.
