IconX 1.1 released

Make your desktop icons..beautiful...

Stardock has released IconX 1.1.  IconX is a program that enhances your existing Windows desktop icons. When run, your desktop icons instantly look better. IconX can add shadows to your icons, graphical backgrounds to your icon text, sound effects to different mouse interactions with your icons, animated effects for different events, and even automatically have icons zoom up on mouse over (something users used to do by hand with DesktopX).  Users can save their different setups as IconX themes that can be shared with others. Users can also replace their desktop icon images with PNG files instead of only being able to use .ICO files.

IconX is available on its own or as part of Object Desktop.  Its home page is https://www.stardock.com/products/iconx

Noticed a few things...

1, Is renaming fixed ? (if I alt-click or F2 a lable I get nothing, the lable goes away until I hit esacpe). This is the reason why I dont use IconX so please please please fix this
2, All icons "went away" after playing around with the options for a while (reasorce leak?).
3, Is it possible to reposition the lable-backgrounds (which BTW looks awesome) so they endup "below" the icons?

cool, been waiting for this ..

does the "Apply to file type" in the replace icon dialog really work now?

Crashes here as soon as I place anything on the desktop or change themes.

Back to 1.10.001 for me.

Just waiting for a fix between IconX and WindowFX taskbar shadows (taskbar shadows disappear once IconX is enabled, but not window shadows).

Still has spacing problems.
When anything is saved to the desktop huge gaps are created.

A new problem now exists.
When the icon offset or spacing values are changed the icons disappear until you restart the program.

Apparently stardock has teamed up with NASA. Great work!

How does it run under x64?

Just out of interest - how come IconX doesn't always manage to find the icon embedded in the executable? I've managed to overcome this with IconStudio, so it isn't really a problem, but it's always seemed unusual to me.

Incompatible with Band VWM. The configurable wallpapers for each VWM desktop are ignored in favour of the default Windows wallpaper.

I concur with Nick. IconX (and DesktopX) cause BandVWM to not work properly (In addition to overriding the configurable wallpapers in BandVWM, they affect the switching time between VWM's (for me at least)). This leaves me in the position of having to choose to run (or not to run) these other fine stardock applications because they interfere with another app (and, for me, BandVWM is more useful than the others). I like DX and IconX, but I can't use them because of their interference with BandVWM. I really don't think that it's too much to ask that these different applications be designed to work together properly.

Thanks.

The look and feel is great, but there seems to be a severe memory leak occurring with IconX. Is there a solution?

I agree with Aleatoric. Can you imagine the flack Adobe or Microsoft would get if the programs in their Creative or Office suites weren't compatible with each other! It's like buying MS Office and not being able to use both Outlook and Word at the same time.
It's really sad that so many of stardocks programs don't get along. I am a long time object desktop subscriber and I use to think that the package was a great value, now I'm not so sure. Within the last year or so stardock has been releasing a lot of products that don't meet what I consider to be acceptable standards. The comments on this article alone speak volumes. How could a company call software with this many bugs an official release? I really hope things improve.

The refreshing of settings and the skipping a space on the desktop bits have been corrected in the build I updated on Friday.
