Help with suite!

I need some help. I've recently downloaded the whole shibang to be able to run and alter my display, desktop and whatnot. I found the suites interesting but I can't seem to get them to work. When I try to apply one in Thememanager OR in just my desktop preference, it downloads and applies, but nothing happens?!
The only suite I've been able to get running is the latest Sputnik 2005 (Which is a very nice suite, I might add), however there's some issues when I try running it. It tells me there are some plugins that are incompatiable with DesktopX 2. So I went and reinstalled my DesktopX with an upgrade to 3.1. Still it won't work.
Help? I'd appreciate it!
