DesktopX Objects and Widgets won't load

My problem is that on my laptop I can't get DesktopX objects or widgets to load. When I double-click on the Desktop X program icon or the file icon of an object or widget, the cursor shows that the PC is "working in the background" then after a few seconds, nothing happens. No crash, no error - just nothing. Repeated clicks don't seem to do anything but every once in a while, suddenly Desktop X will load really really late (though most times it's a complete no-go).

To help clarify the problem, let me point out that WindowBlinds, CursorXP, Icon Packager, etc. load and operate just fine. It's only DesktopX and widgets. Could this be a problem with the latest beta version of DesktopX.

I've used Object Desktop on my prior computer without any problems. It's one of the most innovative and dynamic products for a PC out there!

hmm... I really don't know, but often DX issues are caused by some problems with Windows Script. Does scripts work when you browse websites?
Have you tried reinstalling DX? (Prossibly try to reinstall Windows Script http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c717d943-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&displaylang=en)
