BOOTSKIN PROBLEM? PLZ HELP!

Okay, well I got the bootskin program installed than I go find a bootskin and when I do I download it, and than I double clikc the file and it adds the skin to the list. Okay here comes the problem, when I restart my computer, everything seems to be working but while it goes into the loading boot screen, the computer restart and now I get a messege saying windows did now start correctly, so from the list I choose safe mode and I thought the problem was the bootskin so I uninstall it and than restat my computer and now it is the default windows boot screen. I have downloaded the alternative bootskin downloads 1.02 and 1.03 but still it doesn't work. If anyone knows the problem help plz! Thanks!

Did you select, and Apply the "Default System Boot Screen" before uninstalling BootSkin?

no no, you dont understand. You see, when I install the bootskin program, I than go find a custom made boot screen than I download it, I than click on it and it is added to the list of boot screens. The problem is, when I restart and when it goes into the loading boot screeen, the computer restarts and I get messege saying windows didnt start correctly so I choose SAFE MODE. Than I go uninstall the bootskin program and I restart the computer and EVERYTHING IS BACK TO NORMAL and it automaticaly goes to the default boot screen. So problem is whenever I install the bootskin program and I restart computer, it restarts again at the boot loading screen, unless bootskin program isnt installed.

Sorry, but it sounds like you can't use BootSkin. BS doesn't work with some motherboards, due to a BIOS conflict.

check all these reviews. I think I am not the only one with this problem...

Hey, that happened to me. Oddly enough, though, it only did it with one skin, and it didn't do it every time, though.

that happened to me when i used my old computer. it would give me that same message. and i checked every other computer and it had the same problem except my dad's computer. it worked fine! so i made a deal with him and got his computer.

my point is: i think it depends on what computer you're using.

i also have this problem. the program worked fine before service pack 2 but now it wont go past trying to load the boot screen. when i got the selecction screen i chose "use last good configuration" and when i chacked boot screen it was set to use the windows boot screen. i have tryed all the "FIXES" 1.02, 1.03 and 1.05 and they all did the same thing. i have been waiting for some kind of update to the program but, i guess it's not comming very soon. with a boot time just under sixty seconds that i'm rarly sitting here to watch that screen anyway but, i would love to have it back so i could make and test them.

as this started with "SERVICE PACK 2" i don't belive what computer the program is on is the problem. i have allways thought it had something to do the security aspect of the update.

i see now just how bad this problem is and will be waching for some kind of updated fix for the program

i'm using WXPSP 2 and the skins still work on my computer. i think you need to change your firewall settings if possible.

Not very often will a skin cause problems, is very rare. I use 1.05a, Windows XP SP2 all MS updates, no issues with Bootskin. Will have nothing to do with firewall settings. 99 % of problems for bootskin not working will be System BIOS as Wizop Koasati has already stated twice.

i've never changed my bios, would servicepack2 changethem?

No it will not, SP2 is only to do with Windows XP. If you have not changed BIOS it will still be set the same as when your computer was built, unless you have done an update for it.

There was/is a problem with SP2, (I had forgotten about it)...For most it was a temporary problem.

Try this, if you haven't already....

Set BootSkin to default skin > uninstall > reboot > install, and test.

Never had a problem myself and was not aware that SP2 was causing problems for some.
Thanks Koasati, just hope I don't forget.

There are problems with some chipset video drivers that are shown up with BootSkin. Some only occur with SP2. This is probably not the fault of BootSkin, in that it's probably not it's code that is causing the actual problem, but the result is the same - you can't use the Bootskin driver with those systems.

Thanks GR: More things to remember. BIOS Chipsets SP2 oh my.
Maybe is about time to take Bootskin off the back burner.
