Auto-hiding Side/Top/Bottom Bars

Bear with me - I'm a total n00b, but I'll try and explain what I'm trying to do s best I can.

I'm trying to make sidebars that while the mouse is not on them they're 1 pixel wide and therefore pretty much invisible, and then visible when the mouse is rolled over them. This bit, I can do with no problems - what gets me is how on earth am I meant to put an object onto aforementioned bar, when it's visible?

I probably haven't explained myself too well, so I'll try again - what I want is for when I hit the edge of the screen with the mouse, I got my lovely little MP3 Player I made to come up on my lovely little sidebar I made... but how do I get that MP3 Player onto that sidebar??

Just thought of something else I'd better add while I'm here - the idea of this is so these bars come on top of everything, so that while I'm surfing I can change what track I'm listening to without having to minimize everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you familiar with Object Dock? https://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/
You can put a shortcut to your MP3 on that dock. I'm not sure if that is what you're referring to or not. It can be hidden and then appear on mouseover. You can change the initial and mouseover sizes. You can add a new shortcut, change the image and destination to go wherever you want.
