One Sentence Request to Microsoft

Respond here

If you were able to have a private meeting with Bill Gates and able to request ONE thing that had to be expressed in a single 25 word statement to be added/changed/fixed for Longhorn, what would it be?

How about a special H-Key in the registry for customizing all parts of the explorer shell, which is accessible to both users and software developers?

I want a permanent "scratch pad" (text pad) that is integrated into the OS (uses the current theme and options, etc.), that can be brought up at any time with a key-combo.

Second vote for spellchecking! Also better security between the OS and the applications. It's fine for "Word" to be the default text editor for "Outlook", but snagging a bad macro in Word shouldn't be able to jump into the system files or your email client and address book.

Make it easier to turn on and off "services," and I'd like to have a "close every unnecessary program, service, and shell button" for max processing power and memory when playing high end games and when rendering stuff.

I think this one would benefit Stardock on two fronts...

"Get rid of GDI altogether and implement a simple 3D windowing subsystem API and framework."

To elaborate the above suggestion, make drawing desktops accelerated using direct 3D hardware calls similar and akin to what OS X does in their desktop. Copying ideas? Yes. But at least we won't be limited in what software developers can do when decorating a desktop and customizing windowing behavior.

While not automatic during installation, this can easily be accomplished with TweakUI. I'd rather they concentrate on stuff I can't control.

Ahhh yes the wonderful possibilities with TweakUI. I initally downloaded that one just to get rid of the stupid logon screen, which was useless considering I'm the only one that uses this system.

My question:

Can we set it up so that Windows doesnt (insert latest unexplanable headache here)??
