God and Science Are Not Mutually Exclusive.

You can never find God through science. People who try usually become atheists. God requires that we first have faith then he will reveal himself bit by bit in his own time. God created the heavens and the Earth in a manner that would not prove his existence. His plan requires that we live by faith and not just have it all given to us without it. This runs counter to the scientific method were proof is required first. This causes many scientists to dismiss God in a very unscientific manner. In science just because something cannot be proven is not evidence in itself that something does not exist. It is a major leap of logic to say that if evolution is true, therefore there is no God, or if the big bang is true there can be no God. God and science are not mutually exclusive.
God knows that we are inquisitive beings. He set up the universe exactly how it is to allow us to wonder and discover. Part of why we are here is to learn. It has been said that the glory of God is intelligence. God created man for the sake of man, not for Himself. If God only wanted people to stand in awe of him for eternity then that is what he would have created. Instead he created beings with free will. He wants all of his creations to return back to him but not by force. We all must choose our own path. That is the only way that we can grow and glorify Him in return.

True, Scripture is there to help us understand the things of the spirit, science is there to help us understand the things of the physical universe. From all this global warming, nutritional flip flopping and other junk science we learn that both have their mindless zealots also. ;~D

Then this one.

You've nicely contradicted yourself. Humans are, indeed, inquisitive. That's why we, at one time, required gods to explain things. As we've found the real explanation for more and more, that need has waned.

We all must choose our own path.


Ok, I choose to be an atheist. Is that part of God's plan?

The only way that gods and science aren't mutually exclusive is when people who know enough science to realize that god is a myth decide that they just can't give up their superstitious security blankets and so they try to jump through all sorts of hoops to keep their imaginary friend.

Then again, if god is real, I'll be around my house all day, he can stop by and I'll fix us some lunch. I keep an open invitation. Rude of him never to answer, isn't it?

ps >> no gods came up with heart transplants or polio cures, no gods came up with a vaccine for smallpox -- science did all that...the next time you need surgery or an antibiotic, I urge you to leave it up to god instead of going to a doctor -- after all, god is bigger than science, right? If you've enough faith (just a mustard seed will do) you won't need any of that nasty ol' science

Scientists decided that there was no more use for God, while no single scientist could do everything, between them all, they were confident that all things could either be done now (or discovered and invented soon).

They challenged God to a duel. They told Him that whatever He could do, they would be able to do it also.

God picked up a handful of dust from the earth and made a person...

The scientists laughed and said, "oh, that's easy!" so they picked up a handful of dust, but God stopped them and said..

"No, use your own dust!" ;~D

It is a major leap of logic to say that if evolution is true, therefore there is no God, or if the big bang is true there can be no God. God and science are not mutually exclusive.


--Here is my theory...about evolution and creationism...God(or a greater being) created the cosmos...then animals...(oops, big mistake...LOL)...and also created what would become man...through evolution....

Some people are sure that God exists; others are sure that He doesn't. Most people it seems are really not sure and the majority of that group don't really seem to care.

One interesting thing I have noticed: talking to those of my friends who are sure that all religion is rubbish, I discovered that, not some, not even most, but all of those that felt this way had had a bruising encounter with religion at some time in their lives. "Really? You used to be a moonie? I never knew that!" "So, you were into TM? What was that like?" It's hard not to think of 'equal and opposite reactions'.

That's one of the things that makes this kind of debate slightly artificial. We pretend that we're soberly and rationally (or sometimes irrationally ) debating an 'issue', but in fact we're often just expressing facts about our biography.

There's a really good reason why I can't persuade you to see things my way: you're living a different life, making different choices with different needs and pursuing a totally different strategy for navigating life's rapids...

So, if I meet a zealous believer, that's OK, you've found what works for you; if I meet a militant atheist, fine, maybe you're dealing with demons from your past. That's your comfort zone: mine is uncertainty. It takes all sorts ...

Your story would be awesome if "God" would actually deign to have that sort of conversation. He doesn't though. Strange.

I didn't have a horrid experience with religion. I just kept learning about it until I realized it was bunk.

No 'demons' here, especially since demons don't exist.
