Star Wars WB?

Anyone up to it?

So far we have a really cool Yoda Bootskin and Logon, among other cool Star Wars stuff. And being as I have no artistic ability of my own I was wondering if anyone out there would be willing to put together a Star Wars themed WB skin. Would be Awesome I think......

If there are copyright issues, then how come bootskins and logons are ok and a wb isn't?

My thoughts exactly...

Surely, if no copyrighted images were used, a Star Wars WB could be made without issue.

As I recollect, there's already some original Star Wars WB's posted here (Episode 1 by Allen Bond being one). So with Bootskins, logons and cursor sets also using the Star Wars theme, you'd imagine the same could be done if somebody were inclined to create a SWars WB/Suite.

My abiliies have not progressed beyond learning to use the software, so sorry, I'm not up for it as yet. Given my learning rate, Star Wars Episode 10 will have come and gone

Oh well, some kind skinner might oblige

Ditto. I mean, I hate to be a party pooper, but the Yoda bootskin that Frogboy mentioned in his front page article is a total rip of a copyrighted wallpaper at the official Star Wars website. I don't understand why that's okay but a SW-themed WB wouldn't be. I do think some clarification is in order.

I agree with you guys. I've been dying myself to download a Star Wars theme, but none are available... I beleive Starkers is right. As long as copyright images are not used... I don't think it would be a problem to make an entire suite.

To make it clear, 'fan art' is allowed on Wincustomize. If you want to make a Star Wars WB you are free to do so, providing you use your own images and not those of Lucas Arts

So come on, let's see those SW skins...

Fuzzy, one of the bootskins that is being talked about does use a copyrighted image of Lucas Arts.

I think that is where the confusion is coming in. If it is ok to use a Lucas Arts image for the bootskin, shouldn't a WB using that same image, or other copyrighted Lucas Arts images, be allowed?

It seems to happen fairly often with logons and bootskins. I don't really understand either where the line is drawn either. Shouldn't that kind of thing be flat out rejected here? And if not, why not?

Fogive my comments but those Star Wars bootskins and logons use Lacas Arts images. I'm pretty sure the image of Yoda is Copyrighted.

So why can't someone use Lucas Arts images?

Don't forget that there is Disney images floating around here as well...

My guess would be that it would be a virtual impossibility to explore every bootskin / logon for copyright/rip potential based on the shear number of uploads; so they are considered to be more of a "personal use" skin like a screenshot is. Windowblinds take a lot more effort so there are fewer uploads and it is considered a greater "work" which is criticized, scrutinized, and downloaded more, therefore the site needs to be very careful as to what they allow, since major companies will be viewing them as a Stardock product or something similar and not just personal use.

Just a guess.

My guess is that will be the official word is there actually is one left here. Think I'll head out to the Lucas Arts site for some logon walls.

I wish Alienware would make Star wars suite available to the public for free or for a price instead of paying $$$ for a PC to get it. I respect TheSkinFactory for their top quality talent, but I'm going to HATE them for giving so little back to the community.

Brilliant Idea

If you have $1500 on Credit Card, you can buy an alienware Star Wars edition PC with the suite and return it back to them ASAP.
