Brats!

For anyone out there that does now know what they are, they are Bratwurst!  Not sausages, Brats!  I fell in love with them when I was in germany oh about - a long time ago!

Since returning to the states, I have not had a good one (I almost did, my boss went to Wisconsin and promised to send some.  he did not!).

But we survive on the local version of them, and my oldest son loves them (he got that from me!).  So we did Brats today on the Grill.  Just him and I (my wife is in Dallas for a friend's wife's funeral).

Brats! bestest kind!  Always.

I wish I had some real ones tho so I could show my son how good they really are!

outside of a "good" german deli or short of a german butcher the best you can get are Johnsville brats. And they're only fair. How do you think I feel? 1/2 german, 1/2 Pennsylvania Dutch living in Pittsburgh. I can't get any either unless I go to the other side of the state!

Understood and forgiven! I too miss them. That's why every year at family reunion time I take a "humungous" cooler with me. It gets filled to the brim with goodies! IE: brats, ring bologna, lebanon bologna, scrapple, etc! And BTW... how do you figure I'm holding out on you?

Last time the rest of my family visited my aunt and uncle (who live in Virginia by the way) they had a big German feast thing for the occasion, and there were brats there. They were delicious! So...I agree.

There use to be a german restaurant in Williamsburg.  it was fair.  I googled to see where the others were.  Sadly, the closest one is now in Winchester - 3 hours away!  Your Aunt and Uncle are lucky!

Did you ever ask for one? What am I now, a mind reader?

The last was said in his "best" jewish accent.
